A native of Charlotte, he was marricd to May Jcanetic McCarter Barnctic Mullis. He was the son of the late William Hampton and Clara Barficld Mullis. He was a member of Oak Island Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Oak Island Masonic Lodge 758 AF&AM. A Shriner, he was a for- mer member of Jopha Lodge in Charlotte. Surviving, in addition to his wife, arc one son, Robert Mullis of Charlotte; one step-son, Jackie Barnette of Kings Mountain; five step-daughters, Adine Davis, Linda Newton, Glenda Fredell and Mary Ervin, all of Kings Mountain, and Jo Ann Stephenson of Chicago, Ill; one brother, Horace Mullis of Charlotte; one sister, Daisy Hoover of Charlotte; four grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; four great- grandchildren and seven step- great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Oak Island Presbyterian Church. Rev. Bruce Davis officiated. Burial was at Brunswick Memorial Gardens in Shallotte with Masonic rites and full military honors ROSA PEARL SPROUSE Rosa Pearl Loftin Sprouse, 65, of 507 Landing St., died August 26, 1993 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, she was a retired inspector at Beno's Manufacturing. She was wife of Frank L. Sprouse and daughter of the late Fred Loftin and Lenora Sims Loftin Jackson. She was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, William Franklin Sprouse of Morristown, EVA B. McGINNIS LINCOLNTON - Eva Beattie McGinnis, 78, of Brian Center, died August 31, 1993 in Lincoln County Hospital. Born in Gaston County on April 22, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Scllers Beattic. She was a retired textile wotker and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cherryville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Alton McGinnis, and daughter, Barbara M. Anderson. Surviving arc onc son, David Alton McGinnis of Crouse; onc. brother, Norman Beattic of Kings Mountain; onc sister, Dorothy Beattie of Kings Mountain; onc granddaughter; and one great- grandson. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in St. Mark's: Lutheran Church by Rev. Leroy Trexler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. C.F. CAMP C.E. "Ole Dock" Camp, 76, died August 31, 1993 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Emily Jane Patterson Camp. He was a retired loom cleaner at Cleveland Cloth Mill. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former deacon of New Camp Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 155. Surviving are one son, Wayne Camp of Delray Beach, FL; one stepdaughter, Jewel Penner of Kings Mountain; three grandchil- dren, Gloria Hartman of Boiling Springs, Charles Camp Jr of Delray Beach, FL and Sherry McDonald of the US Army; three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at New Camp Creek Baptist Church. Rev. H. FE. Tutherow will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. NJ, Harold Arthur Sprouse of Gastonia and Danny Lee Sprouse of Bessemer City; two daughters, Andra Dora Sprouse of Randle- Macon, GA and Martha Dale Sprouse Shipman of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Major William Loftin of Kings Mountain and Clyde Pressley Loftin of A NICE ONE! - Charlie Sipes of Kings Mountain is pictured with a 13 1/2 pound cantaloupe he raised i almost as big as this one. in his garden. He had several others Mooresboro; 13 grandchildren; and cight great-grandchildren. The funcral was conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Anscl Center and Rev. James Moody officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. REV. JOHN HOUSER LERNA, ILLINOIS - Rev. John Heuser, 66, died August 30, 1993 in Edward Hines VA Hospital in Hincs, Illinois. Formerly of Jolict, he had lived in the Lemer area 15 years and had been pastor of West Union Nazarene Church for three years. He was a member of the American Legion and a life mem- ber of the DAV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Lillian Whiteside Houser and one brother, Paul Houser. He was a World War II Army veteran and a native of Gaston County. Surviving are his wife, Helen James, Houser; one son, Douglas Houser of Kings Mountain; four daughters, Mary Ullrich of New Lennox, Illinois, Carol Talaga of Sherwood, Illinois, Melody Payne of Wilmington, IL and Donna Butler of Joliet; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rev. Ervin Houser, Lester Houser and William Thomas Houser; and two sisters, Elma Deaton and Cornelia Buchanan, all of North Carolina. . The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 East Francis Rd., New Lennox, Il. Dr. John Hancock and Rev. Daniel E. Wheelock will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. ; The family will receive friends Friday from 1-9 p.m. at Kurtz Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. ROSE SMITH DIXON Rose Smith Dixon, 78, 1826 Shelby Rd., died August 30, 1993 at White Oak Manor. A native of Newport, TN, she was wifc of Fred B. Dixon and daughter of the late James H. and Ollie Holt Smith. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Kings Mountain Church of God. Surviving, in addition to her husband, arc three sons; Grier Ramscy, Gene Ramsey and Thomas B. Joncs, all of Gastonia; onc daughter, Fayc Barnette of + Gastonia; three sisters, Beatrice Dabbs and Kathleen Cline, both of Gastonia, and Eula Glenn of Belmont; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kings Mountain Church of God. Rev. James Allen and Rev. H, D. Sustar officiated. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia. GLENNA NORVILLE FOREST CITY - Glenna Faye Kiser Norville, 82, of Edgewood Nursing Center, died August 30, 1993 at Rutherford County Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, she was daughter of the late Charlie and Joanne Landrum Kiser. She had retired after 42 years in the Rutherford County School System. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Craig officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
