benefit to help their friends de-
fray some of the mounting costs
of medical bills.

ERNEST L. DAVIS
MT. RANIER, MD. - Ernest
L. Davis, 69, former resident of
Kings Mountain, died October
28, 1994.
A native of Kings Mountain,
he was the son of the late Frank
and Bessie Stepp Davis. He was
a retired federal employee.
He is survived by a son,
Bobby Davis of Taylors, SC;
four daughters, Tina Miller of
Silver Springs, MD, Cindy
Carroll of Salem, VA, Darlene
Bierman of Frederick, MD, and
Joyce McCraven of Ft. Mill,
SC; a brother, Carl Davis of
Cherryville; and 18 grandchil-
dren.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by Rev. John Futterer
Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mountain
Rest Cemetery.
BLANCHE C. PATTERSON
Blanche Cobb Patterson, 89,
of White Oak Manor, Kings
Mountain, died November 1,
1994 at White Oak Manor.
A native of York, SC, she
was a homemaker and the *
daughter of the late Smith
Austin and Mary Eliza Burns
Cobb. She was the wife of the
late Boyce Patterson.
She was a member of Boyce
Memorial A.R.P. Church.
She is survived by a son,
Kelly Patterson of Kings
Mountain; two daughters, Mrs.
Frances Bachman of Juneau,
Alaska and Mrs. Mary Lee
Bridgeman of Kings Mountain;
and six grandchildren, Sandra
Testa, Michael Adams and Ann
Goforth, all of Kings Mountain,
Larry W. Adams of Charlotte,
Kay White of Gastonia and Ted
Bachman of Eagle River,
Alaska.
“The funeral will be conducted
by the Rev. Billy Barron
Thursday at 111 a.m. at Boyce
Memorial A.R.P. Church.
Burial will be in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.
The family received friends
Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at
Harris Funeral Home.

W.T. Clary, 56, 103 Falls
Street, Kings Mountain, died
October 29, 1994 at his home.
A native of Cherokee County,
SC, he was the son of the late
George Thomas and Ruth
Collins Clary. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Air Force and re-
tired owner of a tree service
company.
He is survived by two broth-
ers, Charles Clary of Bessemer
City “and: Fred Clary of
Gastonia; and four sisters,
Maybelline Merck of
Morganton, Christine Broome
of Bessemer City, Juanita
Ellison of Clarksburg, W. Va.,
and Annie Ruth Oliver of Kings
Mountain.
The funeral was conducted by
the Rev. Robert Pulkkinen
Monday at 1 p.m. at Harris
Chapel. Burial was in Mountain
Rest Cemetery.

GROVER - Inez "Bill"
Montgomery Roark, 79, of
Walnut Avenue, died October
27, 1994 at Cleveland Pines in
Shelby.
A native of York County, SC,
she was a retired textile worker.
She was the daughter of the late
J.C. and Ila Moss Childers and
wife of the late Wilbur George
Roark. ;
She is survived by a daughter,
Cindy Montgomery Wisher and
her husband, Dean, of
Blacksburg, SC; two grandchil-
dren, Tim and Summer Wisher
of Blacksburg, SC; two broth-
ers, Carl Childers of Kings
Mountain and Fred Childers of
Hickory Grove, SC; and three
sisters, Lottie Montgomery of
Columbia, SC, Effie Burns of
Hickory Grove, ‘SC, and Lilly
Spencer of Smyrna, SC.
The funeral was conducted by
the Revs. Scott Carpenter,
James Sanders and John
Bridges Saturday at 3 p.m. at
Bethany Baptist Church. Burial
was in Antioch Baptist Church
Cemetery.

ness which began on Friday,
August 13. 1993, when she
tumbled from a sofa at their
home.
Before the fall, Winter was
a happy. supposedly healthy
toddler. Neither her parents
nor the doctors knew: that a tu-
mor had been growing inside
her body since birth. The fall
ruptured the tumor which start-
ed on the child's right kidney.
"You just live every day to
the fullest and don't worry
about tomorrow," said Sharon,
who is now the mother of a
handsome little boy, D.J., sev-
en months.
During the last months of
their daughter's life, Sharon and
her husband spent every minute
with her and at her death bed
they said they saw Winter
reach her hands upward towards
heaven.
