EARL - Ruthie Moore Black,
80. Highway 198. died March 28,
1995 at her home.
A native of Cherokee County.
SC. she was the daughter of the
late Samuel and Roda McDaniel
‘Moore. She was a retired winder
tender with Osage, Bessemer City.
and was a member of Antioch
Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.
She is survived by her husband,
Benjamin Richard Black; two sons,
Paul Black of Kings Mountain and
Victor Black of Forest City; seven
daughters, Bennie Moore and Janie

GENE EARLY
STATESBORO, GA. - Gene
Early, 63, died Thursday at his resi-
dence after an apparent heart at-
tack.
A native of Kings Mountain, he
had been living in Bulloch County
for the past 17 years. He was em-
ployed by Georgia State University
in the Data Processing Department.
He was a veteran of the Korean
Conflict, and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby
Early of Statesboro; two daughters
and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jim
Elliget of Summerville, SC, and
Kim Louise and Tony Albanese of

' ters-in-law, Phillip Wayne and
Monica Early of St. Stephens, SC,
Todd and Linda Early of

Smith, 66, 1815 Oakhurst Drive,
died March 22, 1995 at Cleveland
Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County,
she was the daughter of the late
and Beulah Dixon
Joseph Keith Chapman. She was
retired from Shelby Knit and was a
member of David Baptist Church,
Kings Mountain, where she was a
member of the Golden Circle
Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her daughter,
Diane Chapman Vess of Grover;
four brothers, R.C. Chapman,
Lloyd Chapman, Joe Chapman and
Jerry Chapman, all of Kings
Mountain; six sisters, Lois Parker
of Grover, Hazel Graham, Mae
Grigg, Madge Hawkins and Rene
Bolin, all of Kings Mountain, and
Helen Lail of Shelby; three grand-
children, Sonya Deaton and
Christine Marlow of Shelby and
Ann Travis Chapman of Mountain
Rest, SC; and two great-grandchil-
dren, Heather Deaton and Dylan
Marlow of Shelby. She was preced-
ed in death by a brother, Johnny
Chapman; and a sister, Pauline
Moss.
The funeral was conducted by
‘the Rev. Claude McIntosh Friday at
2 p.m. at David Baptist Church.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

FRELOVE FOSTER
Frelove Foster, 79, 207 Fairview
Street, Kings Mountain, died
March 23, 1995 at her home.
A native of Kings Mountain, she
was the daughter of the late John J.
and Ellnorah Mitchel Faris Foster.
She was a homemaker and a mem-
ber of Second Baptist Church.
She is survived by a number of
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted by
the Rev. Eugene Land Saturday at
3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church.
Burial was in Bethany ARP
Church Cemetery.

Ruth Elizabeth Messenger, 78,
119 Country Meadows Lane, Kings
Mountain, died March 22, 1995 at
Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
A native of Jamestown, NY, she
was the daughter of the late
William Raistick and Alice Bland
Raistick, and wife of the late
Wilson L. Messenger. She was a
retired veneer foreman.
She is survived by her son, Don
Messenger of Kings Mountain; a
brother, Raymond Raistick of San
Diego, CA; a sister, Mrs. Mavis
Mead of Gerry, NY; and three
grandchildren.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by Dr. John Sloan Saturday
at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest
Cemetery.
HELEN E. WARREN
SHELBY - Helen Eaker Warren,
68, Cleveland Pines, died March
21, 1995 at Cleveland Pines.
A native of York County, SC,
she was the daughter of the late
Lafayette I. and Myrtle Costner
Eaker. She was former Emergency
Room Supervisor Nurse of Old
Hickory Memorial Hospital and
was a member of El Bethel United
Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Bud
Warren of Hickory; a daughter,
Krista Walton of Hickory; three
brothers, Ralph Eaker of Hickory
and Boyce Eaker and Jack Eaker of
Kings Mountain; two sisters, Ruth
Mayhew and Avefice Bridges of
Kings Mountain; and three grand-
children. She was preceded in
death by her son, Robert Warren.
The funeral was conducted by
the Revs. David Greene and Tim
Lowery Friday at 11 a.m. at Harris
Chapel. Burial was in El Bethel
United Methodist Church ceme-

BLACKSBURG, SC - Ernest
Wesley Moses, 84, 645 Possum
Trot Road, died Friday, March 24,
1995 at Upstate Carolina Medical
Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he
was the son of the late Albert
Moses and the late Marrie Mosley
Moses. He was a retired textile
worker and a member of Antioch
Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Elizabeth Dover Moses; two
daughters, Mary Moses and Ruby
M. Manning; and two sons, Robert
M. Moses and J.D. Moses.
He is survived by five sons,
Johnny Junior Moses of
Blacksburg, Howard Moses of
Lake Wylie, Marvin Moses and
James Moses of Gaffney, and
Ernest Moses Jr. of Clinton; five
daughters, Louise M. Love and
Wilma M. Bolin of Blacksburg,
Dorthy M. Pruitt of Gastonia, Ann
M. Ingle of Lincolnton, and Julie
M. Stewart of Kings Mountain; 28
grandchildren, four step-grandchil-
dren, 33 great-grandchildren, nine
step great-grandchildren; and one
great-great grandchild.
The funeral was conducted by
the Revs. Emest Craig and’ Darrell
Revels Sunday at 3 p.m: at Antioch
Baptist Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Norma Bridges, member at large,
are expiring.
Filing for the municipal election
will begin at noon on July 7 and
end at noon on August 4. The
deadline for new registration and
address changes is September 18.

16.
Filing fee for mayor is $60.
Filing fee for council members is
$35. :
Cook said if the terms of City
Council are shortened to two terms
on June 13 that in 1997 all eight
seats on the Council will be up for
grabs.

To combat the spread of rabies and help avoid a $50.00 fine, the
veterinarians of Cleveland County and the Cleveland County
Health Department will hold a rabies clinic beginning Monday,
April 3rd and running through Saturday, April 8th, 1995 for the
citizens of our county. The $5.00 cost for each rabies vaccination
will be the lowest charges in 10 years. In addition to the
veterinarians providing the reduced vaccination rate at their offices
during their regular hours, they will also hold satellite clinics
throughout the county at the times and locations listed.
