Recently the city and First Baptist Church traded a piece of property for the realignment and for future expansion of the church for a:parking lot. Public Works Supt. Karl Moss said he is hopeful that the State Department of Transportation will approve a stoplight. "A turn lane and stoplight are much needed in this area," said Wanza Davis," church treasurer. She said the church is appreciative of the city for widening the street. The church is enlarging its park- ing area. CORRECTION The name of Caitlin Mezey was spelled incorrectly in a cutline in last week's Kings Mountain Herald. City crews are realigning South Sims Street in front of Home Federal Savings Bank. The street has been widened for a turn lane and city officials are hoping that the state will put up a stoplight. Kings Mountain says goodbye to Chuck Nance City Council said goodbye to City Manager Chuck Nance Tuesday, unanimously accepted his resignation after nearly a year on the job and piesenied him a service plaque. By a vote of 5-1 with Councilman Jim Guyton voting "no" and Councilman Phil Hager absent, Mayor Scott Neisler pre- sented a plaque "for distinguished BOOTS Ladies’ & Mens’ Laces & Pullons service" and a framed resolution to Nance who is leaving the city to go into private business in his home- town of Rutherford County. As he did when Nance came to the position last July replacing George Wood, Guyton voted "no on-the service plaque. He had stat- ed his reason last July that the city manager should be required to re- side in the city. Nance has been commuting from Spindale to Kings 1/8 off value up to $150 Mountain. Nance did not comment and nei- ther did commissioners but Nance quickly moved from his place at a staff table he shares with City Yate: 0 Mo) VA da Attorney Mickey Corry and shook the hands of all six council mem- bers present and the mayor. Nance's last day with the city will be August 1.
