The logo, which is much smaller than the old logo, shows the mountain of Kings Mountain, Moss Lake, the monument at Kings Mountain Military Park, and a Mountaineer. Briefs a Area students named to Gaston College lists The following area students have been named to the Presidents List, Deans List, and Honors List for the spring quar- ter at GAston College. The Presidents List includes stu- dents who attained a 4.0 GPA. Fryces Area students named to dean's list at UNC Four students from Kings Mountain and one from Grover were among more than 3,950 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill students who were recognized for outstanding aca- demic achievement on the spring Dean's List. Students are eligible for the list if they earn at least a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while taking 15 or more letter grade credit hours. They are also eligible if they earn a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 letter grade credit hours. DANIEL KNOX Daniel Knox winner of D.A.R.E. gold medal Daniel Knox, son of Gene and Janet Knox of Grover, won the gold medal for the best D.ARE. essay among the fifth grade class of Grover School. Police Officer Lisa Capps pre- sented the medal to Knox dur- ing the recent Grover awards day. ; Knox will be a sixth grader at Kings Mountain Middle School in the fall. The accident happened at the stop sign on McGinnis Street. JUNE 12 - James Hall, Jr., 136 Country Creek Rd., operating a 1987 Chevrolet, struck a 1978 Mercury operated by Julie Bumgardner, 204 Fairdale St., on West Gold Street Extension. Bumgardner was trans- ported by Cleveland County EMS to Kings Mountain Hospital. Property damages were $1,000. James Louis Francis Sr. was cited for running a stop light after his 1978 Toyota and a 1991 Suzuki op- erated by Patsy Simmons of Bessemer City hit at the traffic light at Linwcod Road and North Cleveland Avenue. Damages were estimated at $1800.
