The three to five-year-old group (top photo) Story time is fun time at library By KAMIE CHAMPION What better way to spark an interest in reading with your child than to take them to.story time at Mauney Memorial Library each week during the summer’. This year’s theme is Rounds and Rounds of Stories at the Library. The summer story time program began on May 28 and will continue each week until July 24. Story time on Mondays is for 9-12 year olds, Tuesdays is for 3-5 year olds, and Wednesdays is for 6-8 year olds. Each day story time be- gins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts til 11:00 a.m. ; Christy Key, a North Carolina State graduate and the chil- dren’s librarian at Mauney Memorial Library shared stories “with the children on Tuesday about farm animals. The children participated in the various activities of the hour. Volunteers helped with making farm sounds, acting out various farm animals, and lis- tening to the variety of books chosen to be read for the day. “The best part of story time,” Key stated, “is the children and watching their faces light up.” The final event for the sum- mer program will be a story telling festival for all ages on Saturday, July 24, from 10:00 a.m. til noon at the Kings Mountain Community Center. Story time throughout the year is on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. til noon.
