No matter if your taste in recre- ation runs from climbing moun- tains to just quietly listening to some good old time music, Cleveland County and it envi- rons has something for every- parking lot for this informative and interesting trip. The next week, June 26th, visitors to Crowders Mountain State Park can take a hike looking for rep- tiles and amphibians. The walk will last about an hour. Kings Mountain Military Park, also at Exit 2 of I-85, will feature two events to make the summer an enjoyable one. Saturday, June 19, will see the Miller-Rowe Consort in concert at the park amphitheater. Music to be performed by the group will be performed on the ham- mer dulcimer and classical gui- tar. The performance will fea- ture Appalachian, Celtic, Early American, and traditional mu- sic. Living historians will be the center of attention at Kings Mountain National Military Park on Saturday, August 28. Speakers, demonstrations by Overmountain Men, roundtable discussions, period music, and special speakers will be part of 484-9622. Summer Sports Camps are a big part of the YMCA scene in Cleveland County. The camps run from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. Cost is $40 for members and $55 for nonmembers. Camps and their -dates are; June 21-25, tennis; June 28-July 1, all sports; July 12-16, soccer; July 19-23, all sports; July 26-30, tennis; August 2-6, basketball. A special program will take place June 25 at the Shelby YM- sports, other themes at Camp YMCA will be; Grandma's Apple Pie, June 28-July 1; Aloha From Hawaii, July 5-9; We Go Spirit, July 12-16; Block Party, July 19-23; Gold Rush, July 26- 30; Oh, the Places You'll Go, August 2-6.
