Joseph S.
MAUNEY
Mauney.
While living in Spindale, she
was active in the Methodist
Church. Later, she was instru-
mental in organizing the
Advent Lutheran Church, a
mission church, serving on the
Church Council, teaching
Sunday School, ana singing in
the church choir. She was also a
member of Spindale Woman's
Club, where she was Woman of
the Year in 1953, and she was
pianist for the Eastern Star.
In 1959, she became a librari-
an with the Public Library of
Charlotte and Mecklenburg
County, until her retirement.
Upon moving to Raeford, she
was active in the United
Methodist Church and wom-
an’s club. In 1994, she moved to
Wilmington and became a
member of St. Paul's i
Evangelical Lutheran Church
and the Lutheran Church
Women.
She is survived by her daugh-
ters, Jo An Moses and husband,
Bill, of Seven Lakes and Nell
Ostby and husband, Lon, of
Wilmington; brothers, J.B.
Rhinehardt of Winnsboro, SC,
W.A. Rhinehardt of Durham,
and John L. Rhinehardt of
Charlotte; sisters-in-laws, and
numerous nieces and nephews;

St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran
Church. Interment was in St.
Paul's Memorial Garden.

Wendover Hospice, Shelby.
A native of Taccoa, GA, he
was the son of the late Edgar
Epps Babb. He was also preced-
ed in death by two sisters,
Carolyn B. Howell and Patricia
B. Cox.
He was a member of David
Baptist Church where he for-
merly served as a Deacon. He
also served in the United States
Army. He was retired from
Carolina Freight Carriers Corp.
as a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife,
Joyce Lovelace Babb of Kings
Mountain; sons, Kenneth Walter

Wayne Whetstine and wife,
Wanda, of Kings Mountain;
daughter, Denise Sessoms and

school teacher, having taught at

Cherryville for 37 years. She
was a graduate of Johnson C.
Smith University and Winston-
Salem State University, and was
a member of Mount Zion
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Delois M. Murphy of the
home; son and daughter-in-law,
Harold C. Morgan and Alice R.
Morgan of Charlotte; grandson
and wife, Timothy C. and Tina
C. Morgan of Charlotte; sister-
in-law, Eloise Jackson of Kings
Morntain; and great-grandchil-
dren, Shatina and Terri Morgan
of Charlotte.

William Fletcher Jr. and Eldie
Holland Smith. He was also
predeceased by his first wife,
Hazel Moore Smith; brothers,
Clarence “Grassy” Smith and
William Fletcher Smith Jr.; and
sisters, Dessie Farley and Essie
Cable.
He was a U.S. Air Force vet-
eran of World War II. He was
employed by Sadie Mill in
Kings Mountain for 48 years,
serving as Plant Manager and
Superintendent. He was a mem-
ber of Eastside Baptist Church
and Eastside Men's Bible Class,
and was a member of American
Legion Post 155. .
He is survived by his wife,
