Jane Kiser notes 20th anniversary in KM BY ALAN HODGE Staff Writer Twenty years on your toes might cramp some folk’s style, but it defines Jane Campbell Kiser and her two decades of teaching others to dance. A dancer since she was three- years-old, Kiser has shared her art with countless others over the course of her still Burgeon- ing career. “It is rewarding anda source of joy to take an awkward, shy kid and through dance see her become a confident, well adjust- ed person,” Kiser says. “Dance has given me the opportunity to mold so many personalities.” Kiser has taught at her Battleground Avenue studio for 20 years, but experience in the world of dance goes back to childhood and a trip with her parents. to see:the famous Rockettés in Néw York City. ‘THe visit Wasso' influential; that Kiser knew at once what her ca- reer path would be. When the time came for col- lege, Kiser attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she majored in Dance Education and gradu- ated with a B.S. degree in K-12. Her senior year, Kiser taught dance in the Winston-Salem School system as an intern. She also performed in ballet compa- ny of acclaimed choreographer Joseph Lenoff. In her 23 years of instructing dance in Kings Mountain and Shelby, Kiser estimates she has taught 3,700 children how to move their feet and legs. She has also choreographed many plays, musicals, Junior Miss pageants since 1980, and dance competitions. Dana Mauney, Bessemer City, reported that someone stole currency and a checkbook out of her purses at Anvil Knit. Ida McClain, 517 Crocker Rd., reported that someone broke in- to her car while it was parked at Patrick Yarns and stole a pocket book and assorted personal WRECKS Thomas Leach, 207 Fulton St., was attempting to make a left turn into a car was on Highway 161 and was struck in the rear by a car which left the scene. Damage to Leach’s car was $50. According to police reports, a car operated by Netha Worthy of Gastonia ran a light and struck a car driven by Donna Butler of Kings Mountain at E. King and Gaston streets. Damage to the Worthy car was $1,000 and damage to the Butler car was $800. A car driven by Carolyn Neeley of Kings Mountain backed into a parked car owned by Susan Guinn of Gastonia on Alpine Drive. Damage to the Neeley car was $300. Damage to Guinn’s car was $2,000. Angela Crawford of Kings Mountain told police she was waiting to pull out of the Texaco station on York Road when a semi truck stopped and motioned her out. When she did, her vehicle struck a vehicle operated by Mapple Falls of Kings Mountain. Damage to the Crawford Jeep was $300 and damage to the Falls Chevrolet was $1,000. ! Vehicles operated by Rush Merrill and Bradley Lapo, both of Kings Mountain, struck in the parking lot of Taco Bell. Damage to the Merrill truck was $200 and damage to Lapo’s Honda was $800. Vehicles driven by Aundra Curry and Catherine Thompson, both of Kings Mountain, struck in the parking lot of Silver Express on E. King St. Damage to the Curry Mazda was $400 and damage to Thompson's Ford was $2,000. Vehicles driven by William Troutman of Shelby and Latoria Gamble of Bessemer City struck on Highway 161 at Branch St. Damage to Troutman’s Chevrolet was $1,200 and dam- age to Gamble’s GEO was $5,000. Gamble was treated at the scene by EMS and trans- ported herself to Gaston =~ Memorial Hospital. Shelby woman faces alcohol sales charge The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department Friday ar- rested Linda Kay Brooks, 47, 395 Preyer Street, Shelby, on charges of possession for sale without an ABC permit and possession of spirituous liquor on premises where not autho- rized. According to Sheriff's Dept. Narcotics/ Vice Officer Robert Archie the Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at Brooks’ home in the Lightoak Community. He said the search was the result of citizens com- plains and a six month investi- gation. He said two cases of beer and . a quantity of spirituous liquor was found i in the home.
