The event will begin at dark (approximately 7:30 p.m.) Admission is $7 for adults ind $5 for kids 12 and * under. Group rates are avail- able for October 24 and 31 if made in advance. Attic Treasures at CC Fairgrounds The Junior Charity League of Shelby will sponsor Attic Treasures 2003 Saturday, Nov. 15 from 8 a.m-12 noon at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Admission is $1. Cancer victims remembered at balloon launch BY ANDIE L. BRYMER Staff Writer Pink and white balloons floated into the air in front of Kings Mountain Hospital Friday &ftérnoon. The balloon launch honors and remembers those with breast cancer. Friday was national breast cancer awareness day. Virginia Gregg, director of nursing said a prayer during the service attended by approximately 40 people. Hospital CEO John Young also made remarks. Kings Mountain High School student Suzanne Berry helped hospital staff prepare for the ceremony. Berry is doing her senior project on breast cancer. She is writing a paper on detection and prognosis. “It effects a lot of people,” Berry said. Earlier this week, the radiology department held a recep- tion to celebrate its new mammogram machine. The hospi- tal does 10 to 12 mammograms each day. KMHS cheerleaders set fund raiser at McDonald’s The Kings Mountain High competition team cheerleaders are trying to raise money to help send them to all of their competitions this year. They will be working at McDonald's at KM Plaza Tuesday, October 28 from 5-8 p.m. A portion of the proceeds during those hours will help the cheerleaders meet their goal of raising $400. No drive thru orders will count toward the cheerleaders’ profits. The competition team will be competing at Gardner-Webh University on Saturday, Nov. 22 and eventually at the State Championship in February. KM’s Joy Theater haunted Kings Mountain Little Theater is “haunting” the Joy Theater Oct. 23 through 25 and Oct. 30 through Now. 1. The haunted theater runs from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $8 and benefits the theater. Bring a can of food for Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry and get a $1 off admission. Children who attend should be able to walk and climb stairs on their own.
