MR. AND MRS. CHRISTOPHER SAULS (Kristen Lynn Cooke) Sauls-Cooke Kristen Lynn Cooke of Kings Mountain and Christopher Eddie Sauls of Raleigh exchanged marriage vows March 13, 2004 in a beach wedding at Fort Fisher, NC. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a rayon white V-neck, knee length dress with red tipped yellow roses with greenery and wild berries. The bride is the daughter of Gary and Christie Cooke of Kings Mountain. She attended Kings Mountain High School. The groom is the son of Billy and Joyce Sauls of Snow Hill. He is a graduate of Greene Central High School and attended Johnston Community College. He served seven years in the U.S. Army and is employed by Waste Management as an IT. Field Computer Analyst. Colby to speak on end of life issues William Colby, attorney for the family of Nancy Cruzan and author of their story, “The Long Goodbye: The Deaths of Nancy Cruzan,” will speak on “Journey...Partnership for End of Life” Monday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, US 74 Bypass in Shelby. A book signing and refreshments will follow in the Epworth Building at Aldersgate. Colby represented the Cruzans in their seven-year struggle to have life support removed from their coma- tose daughter. The Cruzans received the right to remove the life support after their case was heard by the US Supreme Court. The Cruzan family requested that Colby write a book about their experience. Colby has now curtailed his law practice and is a Fellow of the Midwest BioEthics Center where he advocates for advance care planning and end of life decision- making.
