Food Lion 230, Shelby Rd. reported damage to florescent lights and a door lock. Mountain Market General Store, 506 Waco Rd., reported a customer pumped gasoline and didn’t pay for it. Family Dollar, 110 E. King St., reported theft of $18 worth of clothing. A resident of Stowe Acres reported damage to a chain link fence. A resident of Grover reported an attempted armed robbery on Barnette Road by a person pulling a knife and demanding money. A resident of Waco Road reported theft of an aircondi- tioning unit. Cleveland County School Transportation, Shelby, report- ed vandals spraypainted eight school buses. A resident of Southwoods Drive reported theft of .a weedeater and gasoline can from an outbuilding. A resident of Belvedere Circle reported theft of a Go Cart val- ued at $800. A resident of Shelby Road reported that her car door was scratched by a hit and run driv- er. A resident of Grover reported theft of a cell phone. A resident of St. Luke's Church Road reported theft of a helmet, tools, reading glasses, coins and ignition switch from his vehicle. A resident of Alpine Drive reported damage to a glass s torm door by someone throw- ing rocks. Coca Cola Bottling Co., Shelby., reported theft of a coin box from a drink machine. Gibson Industries, 1051 York Rd., reported theft of chains, binders and straps valued at $600. ; A resident of Second Street reported theft of a TV, cable box , piggy bank and cash totaling $800. Food Lion., Shelby Rd. reported that a customer attempted to pass a worthless check. Food Lion, Shelby Rd., report- ed theft of $150 in foodstuffs Carolina Textile Sales, 521 N. Sims St., reported breaking and entering and larceny of a cell phone and $500 damage to a bay door. A resident of Gantt Street reported that his backyard fence was knocked down and dam- aged $1,000., A resident of Cranford Drive reported damage to her car win- dow. A resident of Walker Street reported theft of a wallet con- taining currency and debit card. WRECKS Cpl. KL.Hamrick reported that vehicles operated by Donald J. Arthurs of Grover and William Price Leigh of Shelby hit on NC 161 as Arthurs was turning onto Gold Street. Damages totaled $1500. A rear-end collision on I-85 South Exit 8 involved vehicles operated by Kenneth Fowler of Gastonia and Catalina Percira of Forest Park, Ga. Cpl. K.L.Hamrick said that the Fowler vehicle rear-ended the Percira car doing $2200 dam- age. Cheryl Stacks, 603 Oak Grove Road, told Cpl. Mark Butler that she was waiting in line for a stu- dent at Kings Mountain Middle School and her car was rear- ended by a driver who left the scene. Damage was reported to be $500 to the 2006 Chevrolet. A 2003 Kia operated by Calvin Wilson, 220 Branchwood Circle, struck a 1992 Plymouth operated by Robert Roseboro, of Grover, doing $3000 damage. Investigating officer was Cpl.K.L. Hamrick. Ptl. George Gentry cited Justin Martinez, of Charlotte, with no insurance after he wrecked his 1992 Nissan, losing control: and striking trees and bushes on US 74/ King. A 1987 Ford operated by Rose Briggs of Mango, Fla., rear- ended a 1996 Honda operated by Antonette Adams, 612 Charles St. Apt., 60, doing $3200 damage. The accident hap- pened on King Street. Investigating officer was Ptl. George Gregory. Ptl. E L. Whittington said a 1991 Olds operated by Ashley Sellers, 121 Wildbrook Dr., struck a 2002 Chevy operated by Timmy Lee Sherrill, Gastonia, on Gold Street doing $1700 damage. Sellers said she was merging from the turning lane on Gold at Gaston and failed to see the other vehicle A vehicle operated by Janice Smith Bess, 2009 Redwood Circle, struck a 2000 Hyuandi operated by Angela Renee Kirk, 428 Chestnut Ridge Church Road, doing a total of $1700 damage. Officer FL Whittington said the accident happened as Bess turned left onto 161 North from Us 74 Eastbound exit. Cleveland County EMS transported one passenger to Gaston Memorial Hospital for treatment. Motorcycle driver William Lawrence Wright, 132 Berwyn Road, was trapped underneath a 2003 Ford and was treated at Gaston Memorial Hospital for leg injuries. Captain J.C.Shull said a vehicle operated by Angela Carroll Parsley, 240 St Luke’s Church Road, was stopped in the parking lot of Hardee's. The cyclist was trav- eling South on N. C. 161, Cleveland Ave., when another vehicle driver motioned for her to pull out of the parking lot to make a left turn and she pulled out across the turning lane. The cyclist stopped and his bike slid 15 feet before being trapped underneath the left front side of the Ford near the tire. Property damages were estimated at $10,000. Capt J. C. Shull reported that vehicles operated by Jerry Bess, 314 Wilson Terrace, and Donna C. Short, 208 W. Gold St., were in the turning lane at Cansler Street, when the Bess 1989 Ford rolled backwards and hit the Short 1998 Dodge doing $800 damage. Ptl. B. C. McGinnis said that Stephen Murphree, 814 Landing St. operating a 2001 Buick, backed into a 2000 Dodge operated by Rita Keen. 822 Bethlehem Rd. in the park- ing lot of CVS Pharmacy. Damages totaled $2200. Vehicles operated by Angela R. McConnuaghey, 146 Nila Dawn Ave., Gastonia. and Donald Ray Gifford, 500 Mountain Meadows Dr, Bessemer City, were involved in a bump up at the Oak Grove Road exit on US 74 Bypass. Ptl. K. A. Wajda estimated damages at $500 to the McConnuaghey 2001 Suzuki. Thieves swipe tools, heist trailer too Tool thieves loaded up a 6x12 utility trailer with several thou- sand dollars worth of tools dur- ing a break-in June 1 at Mark Beach Properties, 411 W Mountain Street. Kings Mountain Police Cpl. J.C. Shull said the total “haul” by the thieves amounted to more than $7,000. Shull said thieves cut the lock from the 2004 cary-on Cargo trailer, removed the tools inside and then made off with the $3500 trailer plus three nail guns, one arm saw, one Sabre saw, one air compressor, one heavy duty portable saw, six heavy duty drop cords, one tool box, an assortment of mechan- ics tools, and one bag of battery operation equipment including drill, Sabre saw, flashlight, and cordless drills. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
