he The Kings Mountain Herald Bob and Mattie Scoggins cele- brated their 50th wedding anniversary with a : dinner August 2nd at the Patrick Center in Kings Mountain. They were married August 3, 1958. The dinner was hosted by daughters, Janice Sachs and husband David and Cindy Stone; sons, Andy Scoggins and wife Robin and Jeff Scoggins and wife Patsy. Sister-in-law, Sandra Gettys, took pictures. Also in attendance were sis- ters, Wanda and her husband Junior, Lucy and her husband Wayne, Corky and her husband Jim, Cathy and her husband Houston, and Alice; brother, Raymond and his wife Sandra; grandson Timothy and great grandson Steven. Others attending were friends and neighbors of many, many years. Bob retired from teaching high school in 1999, and Mattie SOCIAL BRIEFS THEN retired from work at the Patrick Center three weeks ago. They currently operate Vendors needed for Gateway Festival The City of Kings Mountain is calling all craft vendors. Spaces are still available for artisans to participate in Crafter’s Alley at the upcoming Gateway Festival on Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 10 am.-5 p.m. Slots are also still available for folks to enter their cars into the festival's car show. Mauney Memorial Library is offering the following programs to the public throughout the month of September: Monday, Sept. 15 — Marlene Smith will provide an hour-long talk and demonstration about the health benefits of yoga. Tuesday, Sept. 16 — “Rhythm of * the Factory” exhibit will feature guest speakers Leon Neal, who contributed to the exhibit, and Bob Brown, of the Belmont Historical Society.
