SASI President Bernice Chappell said that “Art for Christmas” will encompass the entire depot. The show offers an eclec- tic mix of fine art and heirloom quality crafts for purchase. SASI members have worked all year to bring their best to the depot in time for the holiday shopping sea- son. One of those works of art is their 2012 Calendar, which the members silk-screen print by hand each year. The theme for the 2012 calendar is “Aesop’s Fables”. Each month illustrates a different story from the classic tales. The calendar sale is the main fundraiser for Southern Arts Society, sup- porting their art programs at the depot and giving college scholarships to local Cleve- land County students. Calendars are a limited edition, signed and numbered. This calendar will be SASI’s 27th edition. Throughout the depot, you will find a y variety of artful objects from hand-woven rugs and carved walking sticks, to paintings and hand-thrown pottery. Skillful hands have worked magic from start to finish with original and artful designs not found in many department stores.
