Wednesday, November 26, 2014 The Kings Mountain Herald | www.kmherald.com O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanks- giving; let us make a joyful noise to him i with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, the heights of the moun- tains are his also. The sea is his, Jor he made it, and the dry land, which his hands have formed. O come, let us worship. and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, Josh Tucker Pastor St. Matthew's Lutheran Church INGS MOUNTAIN Advent Lutheran Church, NALC Member KM Senior Center 909 E. My family has taken time before the Thanksgiving meal for all of us to take turns and share something for which we are thankful. It has been a faithful exercise that helps us not only focus on the positive, God given blessings in our own lives, but also to see the glory of God in each other’s lives. I think that, in sharing what we are thank- ful for, we realize those things as aspects of our lives where God had richly blessed us as something that Fellowship & Faith Charts Dervice Directory | Christian Freedom Southern Baptist Church 246 Range Road 704-739-4152 Christ The King Catholic Church 714 Stone Street 704-487-7697 Church at Kings Mountain ~ 108 E. In other words, the very things we are thankful for should not be kept for ourselves, but be shared with God’s people all for the building up of the king- dom. The Psalmist writes of a few ways in which we might give thanks to God: by singing songs of praise, by worshiping God and by kneeling before our Lord. It seems faithful to the author of this Psalm that worship is at the heart of giving thanks. And so when we give thanks to God, we worship God; we experience the blessings he gives us through word and sac- raments and then we are called to go out and share those blessings with others. For it is with thank- ful hearts, we are able to live into Christ’s commandment to go and make disciples of all nations. It is with thankful hearts that we are able to see the beauty in all that God has made and to feel his shepherding presence in our lives. And, it is with thankful hearts that we are able to experience the love, grace and forgiveness that God has for us. So this week, in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, I pray that you are able to find some- thing in your life that you can give thanks to God for. I pray that you can sing a song of praise to God for the smallest blessings in your life that help you to grow in your faith and discipleship to the Lord. And I pray that you are surrounded by the love of God as you wor- ship him. May God bless you this Thanksgiving. Amen.
