Wednesday, July 8, 2015 City gearing up for BeachBlast The water, the sand, the sun, the music and the fun — that’s life along the Grand Strand! On Saturday, July 18, Kings Mountain will feel . more like Ocean Drive than Kings Mountain as the community celebrates BeachBlast bringing the beach experience down- town to Patriots Park, 225 Railroad Avenue. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and beach music fans can shag into the sum- mer night with music at the Gazebo featuring The Band of Gold, Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot, and the Swingin’ Medallions. The water features will include the Rotary Splash Pad and continu- ous rounds of Water Wars. This free event opens with competi- tion in the Tiny Tots and Teenie Bikini Contest (from newborn to six years old), a water- melon eatin’ contest, a Woodie car show, and the Big Beach Ball Drop. A variety of amusement rides will be open all day until 10 p.m. when the event ends. A variety of food ven- dors and craft vendors will be set up at Patriots Park in downtown Kings Mountain with their unique art, crafts, and collectibles for sale.
