J. Ronnie Whetstine, of Kings Mountain, Cleveland County chairman of the GOP, greeted Harnett and introduced him before the women's group. “The Republican Party needs those who can and will attract like-minded individuals from all walks of life, includ- ing minorities, women and youth," said Harnett, He added, “Teamwork makes the dream work. Michele Nix, vice chair- man, and I will work together to grow the party to ensure a Republican victory in 216.” “I have made it a priority to reach out to minority commu- nities and share my story and passion for conservative val- ues," said Harnett, He added, “I am best equipped to help expand the Republican Party I know where these communities are coming from and the box the liberal media puts them in. By focusing on expanding our party, we can ensure a perma- nent majority for North Caro- lina.” Susan and Ronnie Whet- stine, Mary Grace Keller and Guy and Lorie Smith attended the recent state GOP conven- tion at which delegates elected Harnett. Other delegates elected from Cleveland County to the convention included Mark Blanton, Jerry Self, Kathy Allen, Pattie Alexander, Ted Alexander, Frank Dash- man, and John Poston. Outgoing GOP chairman Claude Pope said of Harnett, “Under Hasan Harnett's lead- ership the North Carolina Re- publican Party will continue forward with new energy united to defeat the Hilary Clinton-Roy Cooper machine in 2016.” Harnett is former campaign manager and outreach director for the North Carolina Repub- lican Party.
