Wednesday, August 12, 2015 Free Blues Out Back Concert in Dallas Gaston County Museum, 131 West Main St., Dallas, will host the performance of Jon Shain, as part of the 17th Annual “Blues out Back” free summer concert series Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. At Gas- ton County Museum. This family friendly concert will take place on the lawn behind the museum and is sponsored by Akers Pharmacy. The museum encourages folks to bring along blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic for an evening of great music with friends and family. Jon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter who's been turning heads for years with his words, his fiery acoustic guitar work, and his JON SHAIN evolved musical style- com- bining improvised piedmont blues with bluegrass, swing, and ragtime. Shain's newest disc, the eclectic "covers" album called Reupholstered, was released in July 2014. Growing up in a Massa- chusetts mill-town allowed Jon to learn and love Amer- ican roots music, He moved to North Carolina to study American History at Duke University and to continue his mu- sical journey. This decision provided Jon the life chang- ing opportunity to learn the piedmont blues from some of the Carolina's iconic blues players such as Big Boy Henry and John Dee Holeman. While living in his adopted hometown of Durham, North Carolina, Jon has refined his own contemporary version of the piedmont blues and cher- ishes the moments when he can bring the old musical styles to a new generation of listeners.
