A birthday party was held Sat.. July 28th. at her home In Gastonia. A pink and white doll-decorated birthday cake was cut and served with Ice cream and party refreshments. Tomml Leigh has a sister, Tammy, age 18. The party was attended by many little friends. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William E. Bridges of Shelby Road in Kings Mountain and Mrs. Frances Branch of Greensboro and the late Elmer Branch. birthday July 22. A birthday party was held July 21 at Mc Donald’s, and a Ronald McDonald birthday cake was cut and served with Ice cream, hamburgers and all the trimmings. Jennifer Is grand daughter of Mrs. Mattie Dale of Wallace. N.C. and Warren and Jean Pahl of Newfare, New York. Jennifer’s mother Is the former Joan Beers of Newfare. N.Y. Children enjoying party fun and refreshments were Patrick and Matthew Heavner. Kim Ware, Michelle Ledbetter, Lucy Hope, Stephanie Graham, Scott Layton, Jeff Mc- Nellly, and Christy and ’Tracy Johnson. From all across the county handmade quilts, afghans, linens with tat ting, tablecloths and crocheted pillows are on display at the Cleveland Memorial Library In Shelby. These Items are representative of hours of cre&tlve effort by ex perienced adults. Some of the Items are for sale and others are there for the public to become more aware of the valuable heritage being preserved by those who have decided traditional skills. Participating from Kings Mountain are Mrs. Dorothy Heine, Mrs. Alice Hoyle, Mrs. Carrie Bridges and Mrs. Cohen Bullard. The display continues through the month of August and Is free suid open to the public. Council on Aging of Cleveland County Is sponsoring this vast display of color and design. JENNIFER JONES Jennifer Ellen Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Ashley Jones of the Bethlehem Community, celebrated her seventh CHRISTY BRIDGES Christy Renee Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Bridges, celebrated her second birthday July 24th. A family birthday party was held at the Bridges home and Christy’s decorated birthday cake was cut and served with party refreshments. Christy Is grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Bridges and Mrs. Evelyn Hannon, all of Kings Mountain. LISA JONES Lisa Jones, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones of 402 Hill St., celebrated her bir thday Friday, Aug. 8. She Is a sixth grader at Centred School. Friends will gather at the Jones home to help Usa celebrate her bir thday and cut a doll shaped birthday cake. Lisa Is granddaughter of Mrs. Violet Strickland the late Ernest Strickland and of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jones of Shelby. WELCOME WAGON The Welcome Wagon dub will meet Mon., Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Cat- tletown, USA, Kings Mountain. All members and newcomers to the community are urged to attend this monthly meeting. NOTICE Officials of First Wesleyan Church, N. Piedmont and Waco Rd., have requested that citizens not use the church parking lot until further notice due to church property repairs scheduled immediately. Pfc. Osborne Blalock Has Completed Course FORT JACKSON, S.C. - Pfc. Osborne B. Blalock, son of John L. Blalock, B08 N. Watterson, Kings Mountain, N.C., recently completed an ad ministration course at Fort Jackson, S.C. Students were trained In the preparation of military records and forms. In- structlon was also given In fundamentals of the Army filing system, typing aind operation of office machines. Blalock entered the Army last April. He received a bachelor’s degree In 1978 from Ten- nessee Technical University, CookesvUle. His mother, Mrs. Robbie M. Franklin, lives In Atlanta, Ga.
