• # m 0 Thunday, July 3. 1980-KINGS MOUNTAIN HEIUILD-Pag* SA / f \ Oass O/1950Holds Reunion “Guess who!” “Do you know me?” They asked these questions and their former classmates tried to answer them on Sat., June 21, at the reunion of the Class of 1950 of Kings Mountain High School. It was the 30th reunion and most of the guests had not seen each other since they graduated from high school. The festivities began at 3 p.m. at the home of Iva Lingerfelt Beam (Mrs. Tom) on Moss Lake with a three hour “Fun Time” and “get acquainted” party. Horsdouvres and party pickups were served from a table covered with blue linen overlaid with white lace and centered with an arrangement of blue hygeraniums. The class colors, blue and white, provided decora tion throughout the house. Cocktails and colas were serv ed from the crescent bar in the recreation room of the Beam home. Following “Fun Time,” the group gathered at the Wood- bridge Country Club along with their special guests for a buffet dinner. The club was decorated with the class colors. Tables were set with white linen tablecloths and blue napkins and enhanced by blue candles and blue streamers. Red silk roses on the head table were later presented to each guest. Curtis Wright, class president, gave the welcome and Carl B. Moss, class co-treasurer, was master of ceremonies. The in vocation was given by B.N. Barnes, former superintendent of schools. Carl Moss recognized guests who were former teachers: Mrs. Mabel Goodman Carpenter of Waco, Mrs. Alice Ridenhour Wise of Briston, Va., Ms. Elizabeth Hunt of Marion and Mrs. W.T. Weir. Mrs. Weir gave the response. The class members in their conversations mentioned that if there were two “ladies of education,” it would have to be Mrs. Weir and Miss Helen Logan, who was unable to attend, but well remembered. Billie Falls Washburn (Mrs. Gene) of Boiling Springs gave a delightful “Remember When?” speech which brought the house down with laughs and recalled the .school days of the group. The “Last Will and Testament” was read by Iva L. Beam, class secretary, and “Class Prophecy” by Class President Curtis Wr 'M. A «ery special part of the pro gram was titled “Special Achievers” and was very clever ly done by Jo Ann Bridges Pruitt using a poem to describe the achievements. A pHze was given for the graduate aveling the longest distance, which was won by Curtis Wright w..o came from Gainesville, Fla. Wright shared the prize with Roy Moore of Penscola, Fla. The prize for having the most children of the graduates present also went to Curtis Wright. Will Plonk, vice president of the class, had the youngest child. Norma Falls Bridges had the oldest child adn Iva L. Beam had the oldest grandchild. There were a number of ties for the most grandchildren. Robert L. (Bob) Crawford, chosen in 1950 as the wittiest in the superlatives, came dressed the part, in bib overalls, red shirt and tie with straw hat. He delighted his classmates with lots of humor. The class and their teacher- guests were pinned with an iden tification with their picture from the 1950 “Milestones,” the year- ( TALKING OLD TIMES — Som* of the doss of ficers of the Kings Mountain High Class of 19S0 talked over old times os they boated around Moss Lake during their 30th reunion recently.
