IMO-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERAU>-Pag« 3B Me Daniels^RobertsesNote Anniversary] Mr. and Mrs. David McDaniel Hendersonville, N.C., and Ruskin, Fla., were honored on their 50th wedding anniver sary with a reception at their home in Hendersonville Sun., July 27 The McDaniels are former residents of Kings Mountain. Mrs. McDaniel is the former Tennie Elizabeth Dixon, daughter of the late Mattie and Clarence Thomas Dixon of Kings Mountain. Hosts for the occasion were the children of the couple, Mrs. Charles A. Plyler (Doris) and husband of Gastonia, and their sons, Roger and wife of Gastonia, and C. Thomas (Son ny) and wife of Rock Hill. A garden reception was held. The refreshment table was covered with a beautiful yellow linen cloth, overlaid with white lace. In the center of the table were two five branched white wrought iron candelabras holding yellow candles. Centered between the candelabras was a long white wicker basket of yellow and white mums. Bakers MR. AND MRS. DAVID McDANIEL (Not* Goldon Wodding Day) fern and gypsophilia. On one end was the punch bowl and the op posite end the anniversary cake, which was served with dainty finger sandwiches, mints and nuts. The home inside and the side porch also had white wicker baskets of yellow and white mums, carrying out the same theme throughout. In the dining room were two large ar rangements of yellow roses, which the couple received in their honor. Serving punch were Mrs. Louise King and Mrs. Mike Dix on of Kings Mountain, and serv ing cake were Mrs. Elsie Dixon of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Gene Pursley of Gastonia. Also assisting in serving were Mrs. Roger McDaniel of Gastonia and Mrs. Tom McDaniel of Rock Hill. The couple has six grand children and six great grandchildren. Mrs. McDaniel has one brother, C.T. Dixon Jr. of Kings Mountain, and two sisters, Mrs. Gland Horn and Mrs. Wesley Kiser of Kings Mountain. Mr. McDaniel has two brothers, Logan and Broadus McDaniel, and one sister, Mrs. James Williams, all of Kings Mountain. For the occasion, Mrs. McDaniel wore a long gown of grape colored georgette with at tached chiffon cape of the same color. Approximately 175 friends and relatives called during the hours of 4 to 6 p.m. Guests were from Hendersonville, Gastonia, Shelby, Fallston, Kings Moun tain, Charlotte and Belwood, N.C., Rock Hill and Lancaster, S.C., and Florida and Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. Roberts were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Sunday afternoon in the fellowship hall of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Host were the couple’s children, Mrs. John H. Gamble of Kings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Bowen of Roanoke, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee Beam greated the more than 250 friends and relatives who called between 3 and 5 p.m. The honoree, Mrs. Roberts, received friends in a Cranberry colored dress of C^ana with a white orchid corsage at her shoulder. The party area was decorated throughout with arrangements of yellow roses, white daiseys, yellow mums, yellow gladiolus and green ferns. Overlaid with an imported lace cloth, the refreshment table held a four-tiered anniversary cake decorated in yellow and white and topped with yellow roses and baby’s breath. The cake was cut and served with punch, wedding mints, nuts, cheese straws, assorted cookies, chicken salad shells and tiny ham biscuits. Mrs. Paul M. Gold of Charlotte served the cake and Mrs. Lee Freeman of Concord served the punch. Gifts were ortened and displayed by Mrs. VVilliam H. Williamson of Charlotte and Mrs. Robert E. Roberts of Gastonia. Mfs. Charles Spake and Mrs. Fred Anthony of Shelby presided at the guest register. Piano music for the occasion was presented by Mrs. Wayne Roberts of Shelby. Grandchildren who assisted in receiving and entertaining were John M. Gamble of Kings Mountain and Chapel Hill, Maurice H. Bowen and Debbie Bowen of Nashville, Tennessee. ROBERTS ... .Note Golden Wedding Day Bride-Elect Beth Wright Is Honored Miss Beth Wright, whose wed ding to Tony Gilstrap takes place Sept. 6, was honored Aug. 16th at a luncheon at the home of Mrs. Tim Gladden. Mrs. R. L. Plonk, mother of the hostess, and Dr. Martha Plonk, sister of the hostess, assisted in entertaining. A three<ourse luncheon was served from tables appointed with yellow and white flowers. The bride-to-be’s place was marked with a corsage of white daisies which she pinned to the shoulder of her party dress. The hostess took the occasion to present Miss Wright with a gift of china in her chosen pat tern. Present as special guests were Mrs. Stokes Wright, mother of the bride-to-be, and Mrs. Virgil Gilstrap, of Stanley, mother of the prospective bridegroom. Luncheon Honors Jennie Mauney Miss Jennie Gray Mauney, whose wedding to David Hin- shaw of Winston-Salem takes place Saturday afternoon in St. Matthew”s Lutheran Church; was honored last week at a lun cheon hosted by Mrs. Lawrence E. Hinnant and Mrs. James E. Herndon, Jr. at Kings Mountain Country Club. Upon arrival, the 16 guests were served wine and appetizers. A three<ourse luncheon was served from tables decorated in the bridal colors of pink and white. Miss Mauney was presented a recipe book from the hostesses and recipes from each guest. Present as special guests were Mrs. W. L. Mauney, mother of the bride-to-be, and Mrs. G. E. Hinshaw of Winston-Salem, mother of the prospective bridegroom. Mark Dean Is Promoted Navy Lance Cpl. Mark R. Dean, son of Barber Smith of Route 1, Box 31, Bessemer City, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with the Marine Detachment aboard the USS Puget Sound (AD 38) operating from Gaeta, Italy. He joined the Marine Corps in May 1979.
