Crystal beads and pearls formed an embroidered motif on the front of the waist. The A-line skirt extended to a Chapel length train encircled with appliqued scallops of mat ching lace. A lace Bandeau held a fingertip lace-edged veil. The bride carried a lace-covered Bible which was presented to her by the Baptist Young Women of Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Bible was topped with yellow silk roses and baby’s breath and showered with streamers of satin ribbon. Mrs. Martha Southards of Kings Mountain attended her sister as matron of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Sarah Long of Gastonia, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Charles T. Wright of Grover, sister-in-law ofthe bride. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Angela Long of Gastonia, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Laura Southards of Kings Mountain, niece of the bride. All the attendants wore formal-length gowns of pale yellow polyester crepe designed with V necklines and A-line skirts enhanced by trains. They carried bouquets of yellow silk roses, carnations, cream carna tions and goldenrod. Stephen Dover of Gastonia was best man for the bridegroom. ' Groomsmen were Charles Wright of Grover and William Wright of Gastonia, brothers of the bride, C. William Fisher of Dallas and Charles Patterson of Dallas. The bride’s mother wore a formal-length gown of mint green polyester crepe featuring long sleeves, V neckline and A-line skirt. She wore a corsage of white silk roses. The bridegroom”s mother chose a sea blue polyester crepe formal featuring long sleeves and V neckline. She wore a shoulder corsage of white silk roses. Mrs. Harry Jackson of Kings Mountain presided at the register. • Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stokes Wright, parents of the bride, entertained after the ceremony at a beautifully-appointed recep tion in the church Fellowship Hall where the yellow and white Sipe-Greene Vows Spoken From IB bridesmaid. They wore dark rose pink formals of satin polyester featuring draped necklines and sashes at the waist. They carried Rubrum lilies, ivory rosesan and ivy in a cascade bouquet. Participating in the wedding as honorary attendants were Mrs. Susan Hutchinson of Winston Salem, Mrs. Pat Queen, Miss Elizabeth Barrett, Miss Jean Alden, all of Shelby; and Miss Libby Washburn of Boiling Springs. Mrs. Elizabeth Davis was at the register. Jim Tate of Kings Mountain was the bridegroom’s best man. Ushers were Bob Decker of Gastonia and Jim Ware of Kings Mountain. Canning of Drop-In Fetes Bride-Elect A drop-in kitchen gadget shower Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Cameron Ware on Phifer Road honored Miss Jen nie Gray Mauney, bride-elect. Entertaining with Mrs. Ware was her mother, Mrs. James Lutz of Shelby. The 28 guests included friends and relatives from Kings Moun tain, Shelby and Gastonia. Mrs. James Lutz, Jr. served punch and guests served themselves from a buffet table holding cheese thins, nutty fingers, brownies and vegetable sandwiches. A pink and white color theme was featured in the decorations and refreshments. Roses, begonias and Queen Anne’s lace featured the central arrangement on the bride’s table. Miss Mauney was presented a novelty corsage of artificial vegetables from the hostesses and their wedding gift of china and a picture for her new home. Guests called from 7:30 until 9 p.m. and showered the bride- to-be with kitchen gadgets. Beth Wright Is Honored A bridal shower honoring Miss Beth Wright, Sept. 6 bride- to-be of Tony Gilstrap, was held Aug. 2 at the home of Mrs. Elaine Jackson. Guests called between 2 and 4 p.m. and honored Miss Wright with gifts for her new home. A green and yellow color scheme was carried out in decorative details and refreshments. Cake squares, mints and nuts were served from a yellow and green decorated table in the dining room. Mrs. John Jones, mother of the hostess, presided at the punch table which was also decorated in yellow and green. Miss Wright, who wore a navy blue dress, was presented a corsage of yellow silk roses from the hostess and a place setting of china in her selected pattern. Present as special guests were the bride-elect’s mother, Mrs. Stokes Wright, of Kings Moun tain, and the bridegroom- elect’s mother, Mrs. Virgil Gilstrap, of Gastonia. After a wedding trip to Hilton Head Island and Charleston, S.C., the newlyweds will be at home at 420 Miles Road in Shelby. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Greene of Shelby are parents of the bride who is a 1972 graduate of Crest High School and is employed by Lem Lynch Photography in Shelby. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sipe of Route 2, York, S.C. are parents of the bridegroom who is a 1969 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and a 1973 graduate of Gardner Webb Col lege. He is employed as a sales representative by Fasco In dustries in Fayetteville. theme of the wedding was featured in decorative details and refreshments. A three-tiered wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. John T. Sutton and Mrs. David Denton. Punch was serv ed by Mrs. Walter Blanton and Mrs. Giles Bell. Mr.and Mrs. Bill Spake welcomed the guests. Goodbyes were said by Mr.and Mrs. Paul BeU. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Charles Ramsey, Mrs. Jack Bell, Miss Anita Ware, Miss Sandi Watterson, Miss Robin Watter- son and Miss Jill Plonk. Muted summer flowers in white and yellow glads and mums decorated the Fellowship Hall and live ferns were used around the fireplace. Overlaid with white over yellow, the bride’s table held a central ar rangement of white and yellow flowers at the center. The yellow and white wedding cake was at the center of a seoarate table. also done in yellow and white. Punch and party refreshments were served ftom silver appoint ments. After receiving guests, the new Mr.and Mrs. Gilstrap left for a wedding trip to the North Carolina Coast. For traveling, the bride chose a navy blue sun dress and lifted the corsage from her bridal bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stokes Wright of Kings Mountain are parents of the bride who is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and Gaston College. She is employed in the offices of Lithium Corporation of America in Bessemer City. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Lee Gilstrap of Stanley, is a graduate of Ashley High School of Gastonia and is employed by Blu-Gas Co. of Gastonia.
