Missionaries To Speak At Patterson Grove Church % p# Rev. and Mrs. Ronald Wilson, missionaries to the Dominican Republic, will speak Sunday morning at Patterson Grove Baptist Church, located on Waco Road. This special service will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Wilsons, supported by the Patterson Grove congregation through the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board, are residing in Columbia, S.C., while they are on furlough, along with their children, Ron Jr., Anna and Timothy. Saturday evening, there will be a Welcome Fellowship for the Wilsons in the Fellowship Hall of Patterson Grove from 6:45 until 7:30 p.m. From 7:45 until 8:45 p.m., the missionaries will have a slide presentation of their work in the Dominican Republic and a question-answer period. Moore of Route 3, Kings Mountain. ^ Mr. Moore, 80, died Monday at 1:50 p.m. at Kings Mountain Hospital. Buford (Gladys) Crow of Tryon, Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Mur ray of Bostic, and Mrs. John (Madeline) Calhoun of Ruther- fordton; two brothers, Wesley Moore and Broughton Moore, both of Shelby; five sisters, Mrs. Etha Branch and Mrs. Birdie Kinsey, both of Shelby, Mrs. Novella Kinsey of Walnut Cove, Mrs. Mary Sue Detter of Gastonia, and Mrs. Virgie Bridges of Charleston, S.C.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The SPO (Student Participa tion Organization) met Wednes day, Sept. 3 and discussed the combining of the Bicentennial City parade and the Annual Homecoming parade, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7. Homecom ing events were divided into committees and the following chairpersons were assigned; Janet Blair, Elections Commit tee; Jolanta Milewski, Field Ac tivities; Anne Hord, Homecom ing Dance; Edie Schronce, Parade Committee; Terry Bumgardner, Homecoming Week Activities; Jane Ham- bright, Float Committee; Eric Myers, Publicity; and Janice Scoggins, Program Committee. Parking stickers are on sale before and after school and dur ing first lunch in the office. The price is $1.00. The Drama Club, sponsored by Mrs. Betsy Wells, held its first meeting Friday, Sept. 5th. Suzanne Thornburg, club presi dent, conducted the meeting. Other officers include; Brad Cur tis, Vice-President; Carolyn White, Secretary; and Mark McSwain, Treasurer. Items discussed were the homecoming court nominee, the trip to Pineville Dinner Theater in the fall, also a trip to New York City where members will see a broad- way play. The club has approx- Pvt. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. King Roseboro, live on Route 1, Grover. HOMECOMING Westover Baptist Church in Kings Mountain will observe homecoming Sunday. Rev. Ar chie Chapman will bring the morning message at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served immediately following the service. A specif singing in the afternoon will feature ‘The Revealers” of Shelby and ‘The Pearson Fami ly” of Kinp Mountain. The public is invited to attend. BIBLE STUDY Saturday, at 10 a.m.. Pastor David Gales of Charlotte will lead a Bible study at 1403 Grover Road, home of Bill and Betty Moss. A covered dish lun cheon will be shared by those who attend. “Come, bring your Bible and a covered dish for a day of Christian fellowship,” Mrs. Moss said. The of ficers are: Jenifer Pruette, Presi dent; Janice Scoggins, Vice- President; and Kim Dixon, Secretary-Treasurer. Jenifer Pruette is the homecoming court nominee. Four members of the boys ten nis team, Scott Hardin, Greg Hambright, Mike Cornwell and Jay Schronce, and their coach, Ed Guy, painted the new KMJH tennis courts as well as the KMSH courts last Friday, Satur day and Sunday. They plan to complete the volunteer work this weekend. In an organizational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Art Club sponsored by Mrs. Diane Harper, elected the following of ficers: Ann Ballard, President; Jayne Lybrand, Vice-President; Annie Burns, Secre tary/Treasurer. They also elected Kim Roper as their homecoming nominee. The Key Club, sponsored by Alan Dixon, met Monday and discussed election of officers, the club dues of $5.00, and homecoming plans.
