The Mountaineers lost all nine matches in straight sets in what coach Ed Guy called one of the team’s worst defeats ever. The Mountaineers have an open date Friday and return to Gastonia next Tuesday to face Ashbrook. Commercial Tourney Slated The Kings Mountain Com mercial League All-Stars will be playing in the first North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association West-Central District Basketball Tournament ever held in Kings Mountain. The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Tournament on Fri day and Saturday at the Neighborhood Facility Center Gym. Other area teams are E.R. Carpenter of Newton, General Electric of Newton, Granite Fails and Alexander County. The Tournament should be an exciting event with first night ac tion (Kings Mountain vs E.R. Carpenter), beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, three games will be played beginning at 10 a.m. Donations of 50 cents for ages 12 and under and $1.00 for ages 13 and over will be requested at the door. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a weight machine for the Physical Fitness Room at the Center.
