The starter’s gun will go off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2 to start the 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) and 20-kilometer races. Winding through the streets of Morgan ton, the race will start and finish near The News Herald office in downtown Morganton. Last year’s race, like the two before, was run on the first Sun day in May at 2 p.m. But hot mid-afternoon temperatures last year forced race officials to change the starting time to a more pleasurable a.m. beginning. Race Director Layne Prebor says the new starting time is ideal for area runners and will give them an excellent chance to set a [lersonal record. A one-mile fun-run will in itiate the festivities at 9 a.m. Again this year, a large com puter digital clock at the finish line will aid in time tabulating. Advanced registration is $3. AFter April 20, registration is $5. Runners may also register the day of the race. Race applications are available at The News Herald or from any Table Rock Runners Club member — cosponsors of the event. For further informa tion, contact Prebor at The News Herald, P.O.
