McGill, 703 Hillside ELIZABETH McGILL Dana King One Year Old Dana Christine King, daughter of David and Amelia King of Route 2, White Plains Drive, celebrated her first birth day on April 14. She was entertained at a Rag gedy Ann party at her home. 1 wenty friends and relatives at tended. Dana is the granddaughter of the late Kllis and Maude King of Kings Mountain, the late Paul H. Smith of Ciaffney and the late i lorenee Denton Smith of Shelby. Drive, Kings Mountain, N.C., has been tapped for the Erskine College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, national leadership and service honor society. .Miss McGill, a rising junior biology major at Erskine, is a 1979 graduate of Kings Moun tain High School. At Erskine she has been a member of Tri-Beta Biological Society, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Student Union, and the tennis team, and received the AAUW Biology Award. Omicron Delta Kappa, found ed in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, includes circles at outstanding colleges and universities throughout the na tion. Classes Set At Center The City of Kings Mountain will be hosting an evening Sew ing Class and an evening Quilting Class in the Kings Mountain Neighborhood Facili ty Center located at 208 North Cleveland Avenue. Sewing will be held on Mon day evenings starting on April 27. Kathryn Boyles will instruct. A Monday morning class will also be held if enough students register. Quilting w ill be held on Thurs day evenings starting on April 23. Alma Whitesides will in struct. A Tuesday evening class will also be held if enough students register. Adults, 18 years of age and older, interested in enrolling in these classes sponsored by Cleveland Tech, may do so at the first class meeting by paying a nominal S5.00 Registration Fee. Adults 65 or older may register free of charge. For more information, call the Neighborhood Center at 739-3549 any Monday through Wednesday from 2 to 10 p.m. or Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Energy-conscious Ninth grade students completed a special study on energy and observed “Energy Education Week" by learning how to read meters from the e.xperts. Don Ellis, Gene Adair and Robert Smith, all of Duke Power Company’s Shelby plant, demonstrated meters, meter boxes, and w iring and discussed "|X‘ak periods and hours" for a program last Wednesday before students in Phil Weathers' and David Harts’ classes. The 350 students also saw demonstra tions and the Duke Power of ficials brought a transformer and truck for the students to view after the program.
