Miss Rand then ran out the
front door and called police
from a neighbor's residence.
The back screen was pushed
from the Inside and a mirror
was broken in the bathroom,
possibl;. by someone in the
house at the time Miss Rand
was there. No one was seen
and damage to the screen door
was placed at $2.

ROBBED BEFORE SHE GOT
RIDE
Miss Mildred Taylor, of 709
Quarry Street, told Officer
James E. (Bobby)Daye at 6:20
a. m. Saturday, she was walk
ing south on Montague Lane
when a man drove up to her
and sked if she wanted a rido.
Sh< assured him she would
pay for the ride, and asked if
he had change for a $5 bill. He
told her he did. lie then
"grabbed” all of the money
which she displayed—sls—and
drove off.
Miss Taylor got the license
number of the vehicle --WF
-9647 -- and gave it to the officer.
The automobile was register
ed to William Clyde Johnson, of

Mrs. Rogers claimed she

going North on Alston. When
he reached Hamilton's Grocery,
Davie St., he got into a black
Oldsmobile, headed toward
town. The white ladies’ hand
bag contained s3o—three $lO
bills.

“GOES UPSIDE” ROBBER’S
HEAD
Earl Marvin Dunston, owner
of Dunston’s Texaco Service
Station, 312 S. East St., told
two cops Sunday afternoon, he
happened to be passlnglils place

in front and saw Charlie Jethro
Jackson, 42, of 619 Church St.,
taking money from my cash

Mr. Dunston said he fought
Jackson and Jackson's head
struck the corner of the air
condition set in the service
station's office. The owner of
the establishment signed a war
rant, charging larceny from a
business, and Jackson, sore
head and all, was taken to the
hospital for treatment of a gash
-a the left forehead, then to
Wake County Jail for incarcera
tion. Mr. Jackson was placed
under a bond of 8125. Jackson’s
wound required four stiche.s to
close it. He had attempted to
steal S2O.

p. m. Sunday, on a warrant sign
ed by Mcßryde, who claims he
was stabbed in the left side of
his stomach with a pocket knife,
after a “fuss” with Pearson in
the 600 block of S. McDowell

WIFE SLUGS HIM
OVER ‘ OTHER WOMAN”
Alfred David Hart, of 309 E.
Cabarrus Street, reported to
“the law' at 2:38 a. m., that
he raid his wife, Mrs. Mary Mc-
Neil Hart, 37, had beer, out
visiting, but when they came
back home, an argument en
sued over another woman.
Hart declared his mate
“grabbed” a soft drink bottle
and slugged him on the back of
the head.
Mr. Hart was treated and ad
mitted at Wake Memorial. He
said he woul 1 r an assault
with a deadly weapon against
his wife later.
The incident took place about
1 a. m. Monday.

ROBBERY LANDS ONE IN JAIL

S. Blount St., when Perry Park
er, 38, of 617 S. Blount St.,
came up from behind him, grab
bed his wallet from his rear
pocket, about 9:20 p. m., tear
ing the button off as he did so.
Mr. Smith signed a warrant,
charging Parker with common
law robbery.
When arrested at 208 Strom
ach Alley, Parker was faced
with a rap and his case is set
for Friday, June 24, at 2 p. m.
in City Court. .
Parker declared he was at
Haywood’s Pool Room, in the
500 block of S. Blount St., with
his girlfriend, Miss Kitty Per
ry, arid Mr. Smith was also
there drinking beer with Kitty
at the time. It has no, been
ascertained just hovV much cash
'Mr. Smith was "relieved” of.
He also said he and Kitty
left about 20 minutes before
Smith and went home.
“I didn't have anything to do
with robbing Smith,” yelled Mr.
Parker as he was being "haul
ed off” to the jail house.

JEALOUS MAN BEATS WOMAN

B. G. Parker, Jr., at 10:13 p.
m. Monday, that Halford Judd,
30, of Route 1, Fuquay-Varina,
came to her house after see
ing her talking to a man, and
started a quarrel.
She stated further that he
slapped her twice in the face.
The woman called the police
station while he was injuring
her, and Judd is alleged to
have pulled out a pistol while
she was talking to the cop on
duty at headquarters, showed
it to her and said, "I’ll get you
later." He then “madeit”from
her house.
She signed an assault, and bat
tery against Judd, which is to
be served this week.

Edward Cooledge, 33, of Staf
ford Avenue (Oberlin), told “the
law” at 10:27 p. m. Monday, he
left "34 E. Davie St ret and “cut
through” the back of the house
to reach Watson Street.
As lie went behind the res
idence (sometime Called Bur
ma Road), someone cut him in
the back. He said he did not
know his assailant, but had seen
him before.
Mr. Cooledge suffered a four
inch cut on his back.
