Hair used _ the text of He- Mrs. McXaurl brew 12:1: “Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doeth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." He had us to know if we were tired from the weight of sin we must begin serving the Lord. The choir sang God Will Take Care Of You. The invita tional hymn was sung and prayer offered for the sick Pastoral Day is held the third Sunday in each mtmth. An Appreciation Service was held Sunday. Jan. 21 at the Mother and Daughter Hall, Clinton, honoring Rev. Sis. Lula Blackmon of Clinton. A very fine group of gospel singers from Warsaw sang. Rev. Sis. Three selections were then rendered by the choirs. A few minutes w ere dedicated to silent prayer and another prayer was vocalized by Rev. Perkins. The offering was lifted by Mr. Thaddeus Horton. The golden text was “And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture are men. and I am your God. saith the Lord. " Ezekiel 34:31. Mornine worship was held at the United Church of God with the pastor. Rev J. H. Jones, officiating. Rev. Jones brought an excellent message from the text of Daniel 3:10. His theme was drawn from the passage “A God That Will Deliver." He stressed the importance of leaning on Jesus for deliverance in all instances. The fire is not powerful enough to destory a child of God's soul. The young adult choir render ed music for the service. Included in our visitors was Rev. Cannady of First Baptist Church. Portsmouth, Va. He is a former resident of Raleigh. At the United Church of Christ at 6:30 p.m . the Pastor's Aid Club sponsored a very spiritual service. Rev. J. R. Johnson delivered the evening message. Fora text he used St. Luke 7:31. His theme was Playing Church. After carefully listening to his discourse, those present were forced to say many are really playing church He had urged each one to become sincere. Again the young adults were present with the hymns and spirituals. The hostess for the day was Mrs. Coretta Merritt. The pastor asked that it be stated a wholesome and delicious meal was enjoyed by all- Mrs. Elizabeth Kersey took an after Christmas vacation to Brooklyn. N. Y. She is back now. Miss Delois McClain is back from her visit to New York and Mrs. Christine has returned Irom Lakewood. N. J. Many are ill in the area: Mrs, Grizzle Ray, Mrs. Cora Lassi ter. who suffered a broken ankle. Her son, William and wife, Rosa, and grandson. Elton were here to visit her Sunday. Miss Byrd will escort a group of ten high school students to Munich. Germany starting June 26 for seven weeks under the auspices of Scholastic Maga zine. Inc., one of the nation's leading educational publishers The group will be based for four weeks at Munich, Germany where they will study the language, people and culture of Germany. The remaining three weeks will be spent traveling in England, France. Austria. Yu goslavia and Italy. This will be an exceptional opportunity for students to combine a different kind of vacation with study.
