Artspace Sets Fundraiser For Saturday, April 27th The fourth annual Arts pace Artists New Works gallery opening is a fun draiser set for Saturday, April 27, from S p.m. to midnight. The gala will take place at Artspace, 201 E. Davie St., in the City Market of downtown Raleigh. Music for the evening is provided by Tornado, a dance band from Greensboro. They play tributes,'not covers, of Creole Backbeat Boppin Soul Boogie Fusion. Tornado was founded In 1984 and plays songs by such artists as the Neville Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Robert Cray, Sam Cooke, Jr. Walker, Marvin Gaye and Ike and Tina Turner. The Artspace Artists New Works exhibition is a juried competition for the tt members of the Arts Dace Ar tiaU Association. Juror for the exhibi tion is Jean McLaughlin, director a Visual Arts Programs at the N.C Arts Council. In addition to dancing, a complete buffet of hors d’oeuvres and a cast bar are available. There will also be a raffle ant special appearances by myster) guests. All the Artspace tenant artists will have their studios open. This year’s affair was different since it was a dinner aance. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will present the Delta Carousel Finale on Saturday, April 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Enloe High School. At this time, seven high school seniors will receive scholarships and awards. They will be given in two categories: academics and service. This could only be possible due to the splendid support of the public. Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority raise the money for this shoiarship effort each year.
