He has released three smash hit albums and has performed worldwide, at tracting hundreds of thou sands to his concerts. His songs, such as “My Zayde” and “This Land is My Land,” have become popular in all Jewish circles. Moshe Yess was born in Canada in 1945. When he was 17, he moved with his family to Hollywood, California and became a frequent performer at most of the West Coast cof fee houses. While in Holly wood, Moshe was working as a studio musician and ar ranger and shared musical ex periences with people like Jose Feliciano, Glenn Campbell, David Crosby and Herb Alpert. He had a six month ex perience in New York in 1969 as the production manager of WCBS-FM Radio but return ed to California to pursue a solo career as a performer. The foUowing eight years were fill ed with non-stop travel all over the U.S.A. and Canada where he performed in some of the finest hotels in order to leam first hand how toj>lay the various musical styles of American culture. By the time he was 28, he had attained a very successful career as a per former. The hollowness of liv ing just for music became ap parent and Moshe began ex amining his Jewishness seriously. This led him to leave his career, move to Israel and enroll in a Yeshiva in order to fill the vacuum of not having had a thorough Jewish educa tion as a child. While in religious school in Jerusalem, Moshe wrote the greater ma jority of the words and music for a musical duo named MEGAMA, in which he per formed. MEGAMA went on to become a favorite in Jewish music internationally. Over 155 communities were visited and revisited by MEGAMA worldwide. Now, Moshe is back into the position of being a solo per former in his own right. Blend ing his velvet voice into the chords and words of his songs and peppering his audience rapport with offbeat humor, Moshe sings and talks about Jewish joy and contemporary Jewish experience. To date, he has traveled more than a million miles to bring his music to people. Whether in the stadium playing for thou sands, the concert hall playing for hundreds, or an intimate group, Moshe gives his all. He’s a seasoned professional, an original, and you’re going to like this man, his music, and his message. Moshe will perform in Char lotte in a special Chanukah celebration at the Holiday Inn at Woodlawn on Wednesday, December 19, 7:30 p.m. The concert is sponsored by Lubavitch of North Carolina.
