The Charlotte Jewish News - April 2014 - Page 22 Women^y hJewy Hadassah Continues to Support the Hadassah Medical Organization By Patricia Johnson, President, Charlotte Chapter of Pladassah In the wake of Hadassah Med- ieal Organization’s (HMO) an- nouneement that it must restmeture, the national board of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of Ameriea (HWZOA) has announeed soli darity to HMO during the HMO restrueturing proeess. Commenting on the situation, Hadassah National President Mar- eie Natan said, “These past weeks have been trying and have pro voked understandable worry in Is rael and among supporters of HMO worldwide. At this diffieult time, the board of HWZOA is steadfast in our support for HMO. We stand with the doetors, nurses, staff, and administrators who make the hospitals among the best in the world, and with the people of Israel whom they serve. We will do our part to help HMO re- eover ad believe that the Govern ment of Israel, the employees of HMO and the hospital’s many other stakeholders will do the same. During this time, patient eare will remain at the highest level, as we are aeeustomed to ex- peet.” Our two medieal eenters in Is rael eontinue to be busy, dynamie, and vital eenters of healing. Dur HA DAS ing the past year: Nearly a million pa tients were treated at Hadassah’s Jerusalem hospitals, in Bin Kerem and on Mount Seopus. Hadassah handled 406,044 hospitalization days; 10,971 babies were bom in its delivery rooms; 650,736 ambulatory eare visits took plaee; 4,318,652 labo ratory tests were performed; and 137,142 patients arrived at Hadas sah’s emergeney rooms. Hadassah physieians published 487 researeh artieles; 231 seien- tifie grants were awarded to Hadassah researehers; and Hadas sah reeeived 14.5 researeh grants from the prestigious Israel Seien- tifie Foundation. All other hospitals aeross Israel eombined reeeived a total of 16 grants. Hadassah has eommit- ted to give as mueh visi bility as possible on this ongoing situation to its members and supporters with regular updates from Jerusalem related to the reeovery proeess.
