Mr. N. H. Collisson, Olin Mathieson Vice Pres ident for Operations, was the featured speaker of the evening. In offering commendations for the 15 years of service to the charter members, Collisson reviewed the remarkable growth and development they had experienced in that time. He traced the growth of the Paper Division; the start of cellophane man ufacture; the acquisition by Olin Industries, and finally the merger with Mathieson to form the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation. "You are now an important part of the fifth largest chemical company in the United States. It is a company which had a combined sales of over $500,000,000 in 1953 and employs about 38,000 people”. In further commenting on the merger Collisson pointed out the significance of the pub lic ownership of the new corporation with its stock owned by thousands of people in all walks of life in all parts of the world. "To achieve the rewards for the 15 years of con tinuous service, management has contributed in vested capital, planning and direction. Each of you on the other hand have also made an important investment—an investment of 15 years of your life. The rewards to each of us resulting from whole-hearted cooperation, teamwork and trust in each other can only take place in a nation of free people with free institutions.” 6
