Bailgy. Bugle. Bailey, North Carolina, May, 1956 ^ Page 6 Principol Reporting Graduation day is almost here, seniors. Then what? Some of you plan to enter the Army. Some plan to go to work. Some plan to help at home for the remainder of the year. Some plan to enter college. Too few of our graduates go on to col lege. Those of you in this year's class who are not planning on higher educa tion but find that you can continue in school, by all means do so. The number of graduates who go on to col lege from our school should triple within the next few years. That would bring us up to about the national average. Seniors, vihat should you expect of your public school ' education? You should expect to be train ed in the following seven basic qualities. Rate your self on each one of them to see if you have achieved as you should have during your twelve years in school; 1. The educated person is able to read, understand, and evaluate what is read, 2. The educated person is able to express facts and ideas reasonably well, both written and oral, 3. The educated person has a keen awareness of safety and health hazards, h. The educated person has a many-sided sense of social responsibility. St The educated person has developed • productive skills and has a desire to use them, 6. The educated person ■has the ability to spend leisure time happily and without harm to self and others, and with little expense, 7. The educated person has the habit of objective self-examination of atti tudes, conduct, and abili ties, and correction of defects within reason, best wishes are' extend-t ed to each of youj may the school and community con-, tinue to be proud of you, P.
