Travelers Ms. Lucille Rouse and Ms. Bernice Morgan recently attended their family reunion. Accompany them was Ms. Mary Kelly. Mrs. Bessie Green, Mrs. Almira Johnson, Randy and Gerald Johnson were in Washington, D.C. during the Thanksgiving holidays to visit Mr. and Mrs. Levern Spotford. Ms. Kelly also visited friends in Daytona Beach with whom she had Thanksgiving dinner. Ms. Kelly pinpointed highlights of her trip as the plan flight itself and the Presidential Suite Presentation in the American Pavillion at Disney’s Epcot Center. Also, the sand sculptures of Biblical characters were very impressive. The sculptures were made by a twenty-eight year old artist of Da3rtona Beach. Ms. Kelly was also very impressed by the various foreign country pavillions and the variety of educational experiences at Disney’s Epcot Center. Christmas Past and Present Twos the night hafore Christmas, Quite a few years back, I tried hard to hear Santa land with his sack. But try as I would, I never could hear That grand old man And his flying reindeer. ‘Twos the night before Christmas, A few years more; The fun was all gone, I had learned the score. Daddy and Mama ran out of luck When I found the box From ^ars. Roebuck. 'Turns the night before Christmas, Not so long ago. When I helped old Santa Get on with the show, A lot of hard work, A lot cf good fun; Sometimes it was dawn Before we were done. ‘Tis the night before Christmas, ■ Nineteen Eighty-three; I sit all alone. Just me and my tree. No stockings to hang. No last minute fixing. No uHmdetful smells Coming in from the Kitchen. But the meaning of Christmas Remains the same; Christ’s birth celebration And why He came. I still sing the carols And thrill to the story That never grows old Nor loses its glory. So, please, dear friend For me, shed no tears. I’ve had it quite good Through all these years. I’ve been wonderfully. Wonderfully blest. And now I am happily Enjoying the rest! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Gaskins Company Nurse Gaskins Coordinates Bloodmobile Visit To New Bern Plant Weyerhaeuser Company employees at New Bern donated 67 pints of blood to the American Red Cross Tidewater Bloodmobile during a one-day visit to the pulp mill here on Tuesday, November 2^h. "The 67 pints were not quite as much blood as was donated last year, but it was above average for the last several years,’’ said company nurse Mary Lou Gaskins, coordinator of the visit. Gaskins said that about 80 people showed up and offered to donate blood and others called to voice support for the drive, but could not donate due to colds, flu or being on medication. The annual visit attracts donors from the resources and region services groups as well as the pulp mill and is conducted with the assistance of Pat McClanahan of the Red Cross office in New Bern. "Even though we didn’t hit last year’s record level of donations, we do appreciate those who gave blood and we consider this year’s drive a success,’’ said Gaskins.
