Church on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. There will be several groups from the surrounding churches. A special recitation of the creation by James W. Johnson. This will be an extra feature on the program. This will be sponsored by the Elizabeth City State University Alumni Association, Cra-Jo-Pam Chapter Scholarship fund. All gospel groups who would like to share in the program are asked to please feel free to come and share in the prorgram. Mrs. B.H. Mitchell is assistant chairperson. The public is invited to attend this special program. All support will be greatly appreciated for the scholarship fund. 9|( )|C >|C )|( )|( ill :(( % 9|c Funeral services were held for Mrs. Barkis Hawkins Moore at the Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Ft. Barnwell on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Among the survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Miller of Kinston, N.C. Mrs. Nancy Barber of Pleasantville, NJ, Mrs. Roberta Johns of Baltimore, MB; Mrs. Pauline Cubert of Salisbury, MB; Four stepsons: Mr. Larry Bryant of Ft. Barnwell, Mr. Richard Moore and Mr. Ernest Lynwood Moore of Bover, N.C., Mr. Edward Ray Moore of Brooklyn, NY. One stepdaughter, Ms. Thelma M. King of Kinston, NC, four sisters- in-law, three brothers-in-law; thirteen step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Moore was a well known retired farmer and community worker. She was very active in many organizations in the community. Among the many relatives who came home were Mrs. Loretta Huggins, Joseph Hawkins and a friend Mr. Nelson Thomas of St. Albans, NY and Mrs. Ethelene Williams of New York, NY. They were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bal W. Mitchell. Even though the occasion was sad, there was a spirit of happiness that was shared by the large number of family members who attended the final rights for Mrs. Moore. Most of the relatives have departed for their respected homes.
