I COOKING REBA MITCHELL Of course, Mother’s Day has passed, but it brought an expression for May to mind, “Everything coming up roses.” It’s not all roses, it’s strawberry season again too. Here’s a cake that can brighten the table for birthdays or any occasion, tempt the appetite, and the strawberry is not left out. ROSE CAKE 1 white cake mix. Mix as directed on package ^ivide batter in half enough strawberry jello to color 54 the batter as dark as you like, plus red food coloring if you like. Put a large cooking spoon full at a time alternating each color in tube pan. Bake until cake springs back when touched in preheated 350 degree oven (use your favorite icing) Color enough to make pink or red roses with strawberry jello or red food coloring or use all white and decorate with strawberries as you like. With thoughts of the Rescue and Strawberry Festival in mind, here is a pie to fit the occasion. It’s pleasing to the eye and what a treat for the strawberry lover. STRAWBERRY GLAZE PIE 3 pts. fresh strawberries 1 c. sugar 1 ‘/4 tbs. corn starch Yb ts. salt 9" baked pie shell Yb c. cream 1 tbs. sugar Wash, hull and slice strawberries.
