Friends were greeted and served refresh ments during the afternoon in a very beautiful home setting. The birthday party was given by her daughters. Mrs. Powell is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris. Their home was located in the Maul Swamp community near Vanceboro. Mrs. Powell spent her childhood days along with her four sisters on her father’s farm. She later married the late Cyrus Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Furney Powell of Vanceboro. They resided in the Vanceboro community several years spending a part of this time managing the Farm Life School dairy. Mr. Powell later took a job with the Coca-Cola Company in New Bern. They then made their home in Bridgeton. Mr. Powell spent his career with Coca-Cola Company. Their children are: Mildred P. Benton of Bridgeton, William E. Powell and Ruth Pearl Hinton of New Bern and Raymond H. Powell of Richmond, Virginia.
