COME TO CHURCH 25th Anniversary Observed The Bible On Trial By REBA MITCHELL Along the pathway of life the critics are still looking for proof that the Bible is only a myth. They check and recheck, trying to find a flaw. There is no way to find a mistake, or anything false. God is too good to do wrong, too wise to make a mistake, and He cannot lie. He is not a man, therefore, the Word of God is perfect and Holy because God is perfect and Holy and a God of love. Ps. 34:8,1 Pet. 1:16,1 John 4:8, Nu. 23:19, Titus 1:2, 1 Cor. 1:20-21, 25-27, 2:7. We found evidence that the sun did stand still 23 hours and 20 minutes for Joshua to win a battle according to God's Word in Joshua 10:8, 12 and 13. According to computer measurements back and forth across the centuries, they found a span of time totaling 24 hours, missing. Therefore according to the record in Joshua, there was still 40 minutes missing as far as sending satellites up. With 40 minutes missing we would still be in trouble a 1,000 years from now if Jesus should tarry. Now the question with the space men was when is the missing 40 minutes. The Christian space man remembered in the Bible where the sun went backwards. 10 degrees from Helekiah, which would be exactly 40 minutes. Therefore, again the Bible held the answer that proved what science could not find else where. II King 20:9- 11. Believe it or not the Word of God proves true everytime.Taste and see the Lord is Good. Ssfo Si Healthy 4 Thousands of children are accidentally poisoned each year. Safety caps on medica tions have helped, but the cleaning and polishing solu tions, drain cleaners, bleaches and other household chemicals so com monly stored under the sink are tempting to young ones, point out human develop ment specialists at North Carolina State University. But they can also be fatal to a child. It is the responsibility of adults to protect children from these substances by keeping them out of reach. By ALMA DRAKE Mr. & Mrs. Harold Drake Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harold Drake, was honored with a 25th Anniversary party on Sunday afternoon June 24, 1984 at the Vanceboro Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Rev. Dane Fulcher Fellowship Hall. Host and hostesses were Mr. John Drake, Mrs. Wanda D. Toler, Mrs. Dottie Buck, Mrs. Marietta Fulcher, Mrs. Barbara Nipper and Mrs. Ann Fulcher. They were presented with corsages. The fellowship hall was decorated in yellow and green streamers with a 25th Anniversary Bell hanging in the center. The gift table was decorated with a 25th table cloth and a bell. The refreshment table was decorated with a 25th Anniversary table cloth with a yellow and white flower arrangement in the center, made by Mrs. Mary F. Taylor. Lighted candles were on each side of the centerpiece. A three tier wedding cake with yellow roses and topped with a 25th Anniversary Bell was at one each of the table, lime punch was at the other end. Mrs. Marietta Fulcher served the cake, Mrs. Barbara Nipper served the punch. Delicious refreshments consisting of wedding cake, roasted pecans, peanuts, assorted mints, cake squares, potato chips, and lime punch were enjoyed by everyone. There were 45 in attendance. We received many lovely gifts and words of love and appreciation in which we were very grateful. The highlight of the evening was the renewal of our wedding vows. It was a very sacred and rewarding experience. Rev. James K. Norton, pastor, performed the ceremony. We were very honored to have Mrs. Carolyn Lewis Griffin and her husband Leslie stand with us. They were two of our witnesses when we married in 1959. It was a very enjoyable event. May God Bless each of you that made it a success. The good news from the Word ofGodforthis week comes from II Timothy 4:8-7 and Isaiah 50:6-7. The apostle Paul wrote Timothy from prison in Rome that he was now ready to be offered, it was now time for him to depart this world. He was waiting to be tried by the Roman court forteaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul knew that his death was near. Just a matter of time, before he too would go as so many before him had already gone. Martyred for the Gospel’s sake. Paul had gone through many persecution’s and had'suffered much at the hands of the enemy of the Cross. As a minister he had labored abundantly. He had been beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, gone hungry, thirsty and traveled many weary miles carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ to lost souls, so they too could know they had a risen Savior. He was tried in the fire and proven worthy. He was true until the end to his calling to carry the Gospel message to the Gentiles. When he was struck down on the road to Damascus and received the vision of our Lord Jesus Christ, he said, "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do.” Paul’s repentance came that day and the Lord began to order his life. Though he was blind that day after seeing Jesus, he received his sight again after three days when the Lord sent the disciple Ananias to lay hands on him. Not only did Paul receive his natural sight, but he also received his spiritual sight at Experience The Joy Of Sharing Good News DOROTHY FILLINGAME the same time, because he was filled with the Holy Ghost. The Lord said that he would show Paul how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. All the disciples suffered hardships, contentions and many hindrances while carrying the Gospel to a lost world. Being a messenger for our Lord Jesus Christ isn’t always easy. There are many rough roads to trod, many barriers to go over, but we must always remember that the Word tells us that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Our Lord Jesus Christ suffered for the sake of the Gospel. He was the first fruit, the chief corner stone of the Church. Jesus said he gave his back to the smiters, and his cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: He hid not his face from shame and spitting. He hung on the Cross and died for all. Even though he went through this suffering that we might have eternal life and repentance from our sins, he knew that our Lord God would help him. He said, “therefore shall I not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” Let us as Christians and workers for the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, be able to say at the end of our journey here as Paul said almost two thousand years ago: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Let us not be ashamed of the Gospel, nor weary in well doing, for if we faint not, then in due season we will reap. Come To Church it’s a history book, a mystery book, a book of ethics, a do-it-yourself manual, a geography lesson, a love story, a passport, an organization chart, a self-improvement course, a travel brochure, a code book, a diary, a law journal and otherwise good reading.
