Ms. Gladson is a 1984 graduate of West Craven High School, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Gladson. She plans to attend East Carolina University where she wiii be majoring in business administration. As a student at West Craven High School, Ms. Gladson was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, and was selected as a junior marshaii. She is also listed in Who's Who Among American High Schooi Students. Ms. Gladson graduated thirteenth in her class. The new members were notified on Friday, May 11. Prior to the selection of the new staff, Mrs. Kim Stocks, the yearbook advisor, held a workshop for all approved candidates. Mr. Joe Allegood, the Hunter yearbook representative, taught the returning members from the current staff and new candidate techniques of layout and copy. Afterwards, the students worked very hard to catch on and the results were terrific. The advisor chose the new members from the talent and hard work that they exhibited durTng the workshop. The workshop was a big success. The new members are as follows: Tresa Williams, Clay Gaskins, Renee Hill, Laura Barlow, Jo-elle Brown, Troy McIntyre, Leslie Conway, Lanesia Fonville, Renee Mitchelle and Michelle Gaskins. The returning members are: Laura Dail, Amy Simpson, JoAnn Simpson, Beverly Smith, Allen Thomas, Hud Weiss, Jane Smith and Sandy Wiggins. Beverly Smith was named as the Chief Editor, Jane Smith as the Assistant Editor, with Laura Dail as the Business Manager and Sandy Wiggins as the Assistant To Attend Governor’s School By ALLEN THOMAS Wayne Hedgepeth, a junior at West Craven High School in Vanceboro, is attending Governor’s School located in Winston Salem, N.C. Hedgepeth’s attendance to the school will be from June through August 4. Im) In order to attend Governor’s School, one must apply in writing supplying various information about one’s self. Applications are required to be either a sophomore or a junior who has excelled in academic and extra-curricular activities. The fields of study made available at Governor’s School are math, social science, natural science, English, French, and Spanish. Along with the chosen subject, the student also studies psycho logy and philosophy. Wayne is presently involved in the Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, National Honor Society, Bi-Chem-Phi, and was chosen a Junior Marshal. In the Boy Scouts, he has received such awards as the Scholar ship Merit Badge, a Spanish Interpreter Strip, and has reached the rank of Life Scout. His future plans are to go into science, law, or politics.
