The banquet, which in cluded a steak dinner and the presentation of both academic and sports awards, was sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Organization. Virginia Evans was presented the Jackie Evans and W. E. Smith awards while Mark Noneman was named Most Outstanding Senior. The DAR Award went to Edith Cowper, a junior. In the field of athletics, Randy Tetterton won' the Special Classes Coach Jim Addison will be in charge of athletic con ditioning and training classes to be conducted at Holmes High School this summer. The classes are available to students who participate in athletic programs on the junior and senior high school levels. Registration for the classes are this week at Homes gymnasium from 8 A.M. to 12 noon and 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. Coach Addison said it is required that participants must have had a medical examination and must have school or family insurance. The classes are designed to increase overall muscular strength and running speed. There is no charge to attend and all athletes in Eden ton and Chowan County are en couraged to participate. The local church will be observing Mai’s Day. lUness Claims Mrs. Overman Mrs. Martha Twiddy Overman, 118 Jackson Street, died Monday in Chowan Hospital foUowing an extended illness. She was 76. Mrs. Overman was a native of TyrreU County. She was the daughter of the late James T. and Lovenia Johnson Twiddy and the widow of Oscar P. Over man. She was retired from Edenton Cotton MUI. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Doris Twiddy of Edenton; a brother, John Twiddy of Edenton; a sister, Mrs. Ella Mitchell of Edenton; two grand children; and three great grandchildren. She was a member of First Christian Church. Funeral services were held at 4 P.M. Wednesday in WiUiford-Barham Funeral Chapel with Rev. E. C. Alexander and Rev. Preston Cayton. Burial was in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Recognized An Appreciation Service for Mrs. M. B.
