t71y . Uany Lailea Cry Clearly Kxplaiaetf ni f Hilt It Cut Be Avoided VtntaMj Desrribed. : . I It Is sale to say that not one woman Id ten Cxousand lives a single -wreck In I whlcn she does not either cry or feci like crying. The cares ol 'cinnrfTltmiiTlto .anrl mm than all Tu tveiinesses and pains make all women more or less miserable. This is all wrong. Worn erf were mad for happiness, not for misery. When a woman, la weak she requires strength. Her body, fcer mind, an! all her faculties and functions must be put in a healthy condition, or she can tot Moure strength. Nature is always ready to do tT, but nature almost always requires as sistance, and the question therefore is, " How can tre best assist nature?" , Th finest physicians In the medical profession tare agreed that nothing so surely and easily r,s this as pure spirits taken In moderation, ' isr before meals or between meals. Tna ef fect U to gently and healthily stimulate all th faculties to vigorous action, and thus nature is sHjed -and strength is given. There are hun- lUOUfWi V. .m.ww - - . . ww f 1 who are growing stronger, healthier and more attractive in appearance by the Judicious use of Duffy's .Pore Malt Whiskey. Jlany of theso ladles are the wives or Ministers and professors, and hundreds of them are Temperance women. They realize that Duffy's Pure M alt Whiskey Is at medicine, not a drink, and that it furnishes he best and only positive help to weakened txxUes that has ever been discovered. Great care should be exercised, however, to secure only the genuine, which is absolutely pure, for there are very many so-called whiskies In the market that are a positive injury to any one who uses them. We venture to assert, however, that not one woman in five hundred who win carefully UB3 this great aid to health In modera tion, will continue to suffer from weaknesses. tmt,cn the contrary, win nna a renewal noi only of youthtul vizor but ot color, brightness, &na all those qualities which indicate the pre sence of perfect health. Alabama has its biennial election on the first Monday in August. The Arkansas State election occurs on the first Monday in September. Next comes Vermont, on the first Tuesday in September. Maine follows with an election on the second Monday in September. Georgia, the only Oc tober State, has its election on the first Wednesday of that Month. The havoc of Arab traders inCen tral Africa is vividly illustrated by the fact that one of the tribes Bishop Tayloi intended to reach when he started his mission three or four years ago was' wiped out of exist ence some-time before the Bishop's missionaries finally arrived at the borders of the desired country." The Bishop was attracted to this region by Lieut. Wissmann's description of the big city of the Beniki, where Dr. Pogge and he travelled for miles along one street. Camping at the further end of the town they were visited by about 5,000 of the inhabi tants, whom thetravellers described as a gentle, cheerful and industrious people. About the time Dr. Sum mers, of the Taylor missions, reach ed the adjoining Tushilange coun try, Lieut. Wissmann again visited the Beniki region, where all was si lent in the big town, the huts .in ruins, and the street overgrown with tall grass. The Arabs from Nyangwe had swooped down upon the peaceful spot, and had killed, captured or dispersed the inhabi tants. How to put an end to the terrible outrage of the Arabs in Cen tral Africa is a problem that Is be ginning to give serious concern to all the promoters of white enter prises in Africa. An Important Element Of the success of Hood's Sarsaparilla is the fact that every purchaser re ceives a fair equivalent for his mon ey. The familiar headline "100 Doses One Dollar," stolen by imitators, is original with and true only of Hood's Sarsaparilla. This can easily be proved by any one who desires to test th. matter. For real economy, buy only Hood's Sarsaparilla. Sold oy ail uruggists. 1 It is a queer commentary , on that part of the Republican platform whfch'favors the removal of the tax ; on alcohol used in the arts that no ; one can be found conversant with the subject who will say that such a j thing is possible without opening the. door to the "most : extensive I f muds and t he ultimate ; evasion of ithe whole whiskey tax. Senator j Sherman says he-. has investigated the question,. but knows of no satis- factory plan by which the Republi j can proposition can be carried out without the wholesale escape of whiskey from taxation. "I ; am in favor of the principle," says the Senator, "but see no way of mak ing it practicable." . Senator Alli son says the Seriate committee on finance investigated the question in 1883, but gave, it up as a -hopeless task. Internal Revenue Commis sioner Miller says it cannot be done without endangering the whole sys tjn nf whiskv taxation. .The au thors of that platform should be called upon to solve the little diffi culty. The New York Herald says: "So it turns out that we. haven't ; yet heard the end of that coaching tour through Scotland. Mr. Blaine has contracted with the publishers of his "Twenty Years in Congress" to bring out an account of the trip from his own restive quill. A Scotch journalist, who tpok the dust of the Carnegie coach, had 'intended to print a brochure detailing the inci dents of the journey, but the Pitts burg forge master convinced him that such a pamphlet would fall flat in competition with the only author izetl, name-blown-on-the-bottle ver sion written by Mr. Blaine. The 8tory will be tqld in the form of let ters, just now a popular manner of composition, ami one to which, Mr. Blaine is no stranger." . . . - The defect in the arm of Emperor William II. i authoritatively de scribed thus: The left arm is not deformed, but withered, or rather dwarfed; the nerves which vitalize it were subjected to t great and pro longed pressure during birth, so that their power was destroyed. Hence' the muscles of the arm were paraly: zed and became wasted from want of use, and the limb did not grow with the rest of the body. The re sponsibility of this rests with the German doctors who officiated on the occasion, a fact which partly ex plains the Empress Victoria's dis trust of native talent Site insisted on Dr. Gream presiding at all subse quent ceremonies of the same kind and outraged Teutons have never forgiven her for this affront to Ger man science. A Wonirici'H Ilc very. "Another wonderful discovery has been made and that too by lady in this county. Disease fastened its clinch es upon her and for seven yeais she vithstfMd its severests tests, but her vital organs were undennintd and death seemed imminent. For three months sho coughed incessantly and could not sleep. - She bought ot us a bottle of Dr. Kinit's New Discovery for Consumption and was so much relieved on taking first dose that she slept all night and with one bottle has been niir acalously cared. Her name is Mrs Luther Lutz." Thus write W. O, Ham rick &C6. of Shelby, N C. Get a Iree ttial bottle at W. H. Green & Co's Drug Stor Be Sure If you have made up your mind to buy Hood's Sarsaparilla do not be induced to take any other. Hood's Sarsaparilla is a peculiar medicine, possessing, by virtue of its peculiar combination, proportion, : and preparation, curative power superior to any other article. A Boston lady who knew what she wanted, and whose example is worthy imitation, tells her experience below: To Get 'In one store where I.wenttobuy Hood's Sarsaparilla the clerk tried to induce me buy their own instead of Hood's ; he told me their's would last longer; that I might take it on ten days' trial; that If I did not like it I need not pay anything, etc. But he' could not prevail on mo to change. I told him I knew what Hood's Sarsaparilla w as. I had taken itT was satisfied with it, and did not want any other. Mood's BssassssBsa..;:.. "When I began taking Hood's Sarsaparilla I was feeling real miserable, suffering a great deal with dyspepsia, and so weak that at times I could hardly stand. I looked, and had for some time, like a person in con sumption. Hood's Sarsaparilla did me so much good that I wonder at myself sometimes, and my friends frequently speak of It." Mbs. Elxjl A.
