Mrs. Ray Watts is recovering I from an operation performed last week at- Baptist hospital In Winston-Salem. Mrs. Watts Is the former Miss Peggy Pearson. Crow Wholesale Co., Tuesday following Injuries sustained ln a car wreck near Pores Knob on - New Year's Day. Miss Marguerite Marshall, of Charlotte, and who formerly held a position here with the Farm Security, visited here from' Friday until Wednesday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward ■Smoot Finlay. Mr. Walter Call, son of the I late W. W. 'Call, and Mrs. C. G i Poindexter, of this city, is now associated with The Northwest-' ern Bank here. Mr. Call has been working in the ' Taylorsville branch of the bank for the past several months. Miss Margaret Morrison has resumed her duties as assistant home agent in Wilkes county after a long absence while she was recuperating fh>m injuries received in an automobile accident. She had been at her home near Davidson. Mr. H. A. Wendland, who has been a patient of the Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro for the past , few weeks, was removed yesterday to the Wilkes Hos; here. Friends will be pleased to learn that some Improvement is noted in his condition. Miss Ruth Linney returned last Thursday to her home on I Roaring River Route 2 after spending nine dayB in the Wilkes J Hospital and a few days with her {cousin, Mrs. W. fc. Sturdivant. She had severe anemia and was 1 given two transfusions, but is much improved. Pfc. S. L. Turner, who has been stationed at an air base at San Antonia, Texas, is home j spending several days with his family, and his mother, Mrs. J. R. Turner, in Wilkesboro. Pfc! Turner has 'been assigned to duty at Spokane, Wash., and he will report there within the next few days. I Mr. T. c. Plexico, son of Mr. 1 and Mrs. C. G. Plexico, of North i Wilkesboro, has been selected to head the Demoethenlan Literary Society of Lenoir-Rhyne College. He has also served as Sergeantat-Arms and Chaplain of this organization. Mr. Plexico is a member of the senior class. Next fall he will enter the Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary at Columbia, S. C.
