All four are freshmen. APEX - The Sunday School department of First Baptist Church had promotion after the reassembling of the classes. Five were promoted. The at tendance was good and the chil dren were enthusiastic over being in a higher level. Miss Carol Tabron represented the senior boys and girls, and re viewed the lesson. He used as a subject "The Amazing Vision Os God,*’ We were happy to add to our mem bership Mrs. Helen Bullock. On Sunday evening at 7, First Baptist Gospel Chorus cele brated its 10th anniversary. The processional of the Gospel Chorus with our male chorus was very beautiful. The presi dent, Mrs. Bernice, conducted the opening of the service. Dea con E. M, Bullock offered the prayer. Yours truly gave the welcome address; Mr. Richard Murphy, of Durham, gave the response. Miss Ida Hayes read the history. Our male chorus rendered a selection and the pastor, Rev. Perkins, intro duced the speaker, I)r. W. T, Bigelow, who, with his gospel chorus, the young adult and Chancelor choirs of the Great er St. Paul Baptist Church, rendered an enjoyable portion of the program. Dr. Bigelow's text was taken from the Book of St, James full. His subject was entitled “You Can Make It, If You Can Take It.” This was a thought-provoking ana informative sermon. Four members of the Gleeners of St. Paul Sifted the offering. The ushers of Greater St. Paul and a large number of the con gregation also accompanied them. The president, Mrs. Bul lock, and members greatly ap preciate the very fine support of our visiting friends. Sunday afternoon at 6, the young adult choir of First Bap tist Church will sponsor a pro gram, We invite our many friends to attend. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Otis Farrar, Sr. of Washington, D. Mrs. Elncra Colvin of Lin den, N. J, and her aunt, Mrs. Ida Fogg of Kittrell, were Sun day afternoon guests of the Col vins. Mrs. Colvin is the sis ter-in-law of the Colvins at Apex and the daughter of Mrs. Ella Perry of Raleigh. The entire community ex tends its Christian sympanty to the Whitehead family and all other relatives in the loss of their loved one, Mrs. Mittie Whitehead, who wasfuneraiized at Christian Chapel United Church of Christ at 3 pm. last Sunday, with Rev. Leon White, officiating. FeHowille News BY MRS. MARY MOSS Felton Grove Baptist Church is growing by leaps and bounds. We have bad a large number of persons present for the Sunday School classes during the past few weeks. We are hoping to move forward rapidly. Our youth groups play a large part in our attendance record. Visitors are always welcome to attend out services. Officers and teachers are being elected for the coining year and plans mad* for all church work on Octolxu 3. We all look forward to our new yeai and pray that a fresh start and good leadership will lead us for ward. Those who serve are an example to many by thelt ac tions and support of church ac tivities and we appreciate the hard work of our deacons.
