As of January 31, 1953 it had $42,335.00 in shares owned by members as compared to $20,849.00 at the same time last year. There were loans outstanding amount ing to $33,794.00 and only $20,849.00 a year ago- The number of members has Increased from 313 to 397 during the year. A dividend of was declared by the Board of Directors at the January meeting to be paid to participating shareholders for the year 1952^ which anxxint- ed to $1,566.00, an increase of $807.00 over the amount dis tributed in 1951. In view of these figures, it Is apparent that the Credit Union is a big success, and is in a qood position to render a great er service to its members than ever before. C, H. Xood, i\TA, Secretary and Treasurer of the organization, reports that ample funds are on hand to handle whatever loans that may be ap plied for, so anyone w-ho has financial proolems will receive prompt attention to their ap plication for d loan. Remember that Piedmont Aviation, Inc. stock may be used as security, eliminating the need for co signers • Every encouragement is also given to any employee to use the opportunity offered by the Credit Union for systematic savings. A regular deposit, either by payroll deduction or direct payment, will mean much to a member*s financial s e cu r i t y . SPRING CLEANING HITS F IXED BASf D I VI SIGN AT INT Spring must be just around the corner Decause cleaning time has rolled around for Fixed Base, and we are having our face lifted - so to speak. The offices are being oainted anS new flooring put down, and last out not least, we have two new additions In the Operations building - one for the boys and one for the girls. >l/e*re certainly pleased with our newly done-over offices, so drop around and look us over. -0- The J^^ngine Shop is also making a few changes - vacation-wIse. For I nformation a I purposes we thought you might like to know that they will oe closed - with the exceotion of an emergency crew - the week of July 6th and December 28th for their 2- week vacation period. ■n0“ Southern Airways was mighty nice to us due to the fact that for a short while we had Jim ^voontz back working as a Flight Instructor, but that was short lived because he is now flying co-pilot for McLean Trucking Company. Bob Nance of Columoia, S. C., is now with us taking over where Jim left off. This story could have a happy ending for the single gals, but it seems that Bob - who was also a Southern co-pilot - relieved Southern of one of their girls and married her the latter part of February. CongratuI ations, Bob I -0- Mr . Northington has been named on the National Committee to observe the 50th Anniversary of Powered Flight. This is a com mittee made up of 55 leaders of aviation throughout the United Stated and Piedmont is mighty oroud to oe represented. -0- Mr. Northington and Eddie Culler recently made a trip to Conti nental 'v.otors Corporation, Mus kegon, Michigan - Piedmont is a distrlDutor for Continental - and had a most enlightening trip through Continental’s plant and also secured infor mation concerning future pro ductions, etc. -0- John Hall, Purchasing Agent for the Fixed case Division, also spent a few days in New York and Washington, but we failed to find out what type of in formation he secured. 7-
