Vernon DECEMBER 16, 1 The Bloodmobile will make its final 1963 visit to the Tri-Cities Friday, De cember 27, and will be stationed at the First Methodist Church, Draper, from 11 a. m. until 4:30 p. m. Draper Mayor Eldred Cherry will have charge of the recruitment of don ors. He will be assisted by Dr. L. Gor don Clarke, chairman of the Leaksville- Spray-Draper Red Cross chapter, and other Draper individuals and groups. The Virginia-Carolina Citizens Band Radio Club will again furnish free transportation for donors who need a ride to and from the Bloodmobile. Those wishing to have a car sent for them should telephone MEadow 5-3103. Mothers with small children may have them cared for in a nursery, staffed by women of the church, while the mothers 96 3 are donating blood to the Bloodmobile. Donors from all parts of the Tri-Cities and the surrounding area are expected to give blood as efforts are made to reduce the deficit that exists in local blood collections. Haven H. Newton, Bloodmobile co- chairman, said that since July 1 hos pitalized patients of the Tri-Cities have used 100 more pints of blood than have been donated. Blood is being used at the rate of 192 pints every two months and collections at this rate are necessary if the program is to continue to meet the needs of Tri- City patients, he said. Mr. Newton emphasized the desperate need for new, additional donors—those who have never given blood before—to bolster the collections in the Tri-Cities.
