Shop Men Add To Skills Calvin Thompson instructs welding class at Towel Mill. From left, front row, Brewster Scott, Bernice Crowe, Clyde Joyce, Twelve Towel Mill employees added to their skills and the mill acquired a reservoir of trained welders for future needs as a result of a course in arc and acetylene welding which has just been completed. The course was arranged by Dwight Wilkinson, foreman of the Towel Mill Plant Service Department, with the cooperation of the Fieldcrest Training De partment. The training was offered to all of the Plant Service men. An even dozen responded and took the 30-hour course on their own time. . Calvin Thompson, of Thompson Welding, Leaks- yille, was obtained as instructor for the course which included instruction, demonstration and practice in the various welding operations and the safety as pects of this type of work. In order to meet the particular needs of the Towel ^ill, most of the course was devoted to arc welding. Of the operations, pipe welding and the building up of worn parts received the greatest attention. In addition to those shown, Matt Hall and Robert Williams took the course but are not in the pictures.
