CLASS POEM The seniors are waiting with glad expectancy. As our college days draw swift to a close. For the adventure of life to unfold before us. The mission that God in His time will disclose. We fear not the struggles, the pain, or the failures That come to each in the course of life. For we know that He is there to help us And ever is near us in joy or strife. We take as our guide the “Montreat Spirit,” The memory of friends that have grown so dear. The ideals we all have learned to value. And thoughts of hours that shone each year. So, though we leave school days with sadness. Wo eargerly face the tasks ahead; Serene in the knowledge we carry with us— Conviction that each is divinely led. Carolyn Williams and Virginia Bean, Class Poets gratulated her upon the honor bestowed on her. Pat then responded with a speech of appreciation and gratitude for the du ties given her and the new cabinet. Mr. J. P. Williams gave the charge, and the student body sang the Alma Mater in closing. '!f's May, May, May' Have you ever longed to visit a land of fairies? A shoe where lived^ an old woman and her many children ? Nursery rhyme characters such as Mother Goose, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Bo Peep, Jack and Jill? A beautiful lawn nestled under the trees and flowers—Nature her self clothed in queenly garments? Won’t you go with me on this beautiful day of May 3 to a lawn—Anderson—nest led in a place known as Montreat? Why, yes—here’s a fine place to sit. Here we can see everything and hear, too—isn’t it beautiful? Ijook! After the musical prelude, the setting of the May Pageant begins as Alice in Wonderland discovers the May Pole, throne, and flowers, grows weary, and sits down to read her book. The Sandman then dances around hei’, making a magic dream ring as she falls asleep. “She comes—she comes, our radiant queen.” The May Queen ascends the throne with her court gathered around her. 'fho pageant unfolds as each nursery rhyme character performs for the queen. After the recessional of characters in the pageant and of the May Court, Alice in Wonderland arises from her sleep. The pageant, the costuming, and the beauty of Montreat all joined in making this year’s May Day one of the loveliest and most memorable ones here. May, 1952
