GUIDE TO FOOD AND FUN Ron Urban International Ice Show Entertains Audiences At Ghost Town Dolores and Charles Younker were childhood sweethearts in Weatherly, Pennsylvania. In the sixth grade Charles began to carry Dolores’ books home from school and carried her skates to a park pond where they met friends for hot dogs and marshmallows and happy spins on the ice. It was all for fun that they skated. One day the Icecapades came to town and changed their lives. The Younkers watched with fascina tion a type of skating called “adagio” " an acrobatic form of skating both graceful and dangerous. “We had the fantasy of doing it ourselves someday. We started work ing on it the day after,” Younker said. And so, the Younkers became professional ice skaters. This June they completed their 1000th perform ance for the Ron Urban International Ice Show, skating on the new ice rink at Ghost Town in the Sky at Maggie Valley. Their 13-year old son Charles often performs with the company, making the audience laugh with the balloon sculptures he creates while skating. The shows at Ghost Town feature colorful, costumed skaters who make the audience gasp with their daring and grace and dissolve in laughter at their antics.
