TABS BEAT KILO SWATS 12-2 ******•£ Vi*#####*#**^*^***# Tom Taylor Hurls Win Giving Vepco Boys Only 5 Hits Throws Herald Team Within One Game Of City League Leaders The fast stepping Herald Tabs advanced within one game of the Bascoes as City League leaders Saturday, by jumping on the Vepco Kilo-Swats for a decisive 12-2 victory in the opener of a double header. Tom Taylor, lanky righthander was in fine form letting the losers touch him for only five safe blows, after having a rough start in the opening stanza when the Kilo-Swats scored their two runs. The inning opened with Kim ball striking out, F. Dickens sing led, Vaughan grounded out, Starke walked, Morris and Warren each hit safely to score the Kilo-Swats only two markers, failing to show another threat throughout the game. The Tabs also opened their scoring early. Bill Speight first up in the initial frame collected a bingle, Garris flyed out, W. Dick ens touched first by an error on Warren’s part, then Outland came through with a three bagger and Tom Taylor following him with a single that brought home two runs. Speight attempted to steal being thrown out, and Sullivan up after Taylor grounded to Warren for the third out, retiring the side. Five more runs for the Tabs came in the third as Speight, W. Dickens, Sullivan and T. Taylor collected safe blows combined with two errors, accounted' for the markers. Another big inning was in the sixth frame, the Tabs adding five runs to their early lead. Tennis Tournament May Be Staged For Local Competition Plans are under way by Bel mont Murray to stage a city ten nis tournament soon. The tourna ment will be open to all entries, and will be played off in single and double matches. A trophy will be awarded to the winners of the single and double finalists. A small entry fee will be charged in order to take care of the expenses of the tro phies and other minor things. All intreested will please turn their names into young Murray at once as the torunament is scheduled to get under way within a week.
