ROOSEVELT - WALLACE TICKET GETS CASH AS DRIVE HERE ON Dollars for Roosevelt have start ed coming in from citizens of Roa noke Rapids and Halifax County in an effort to stem the tide of Re publican money now flooding the country for YVillkie. The response during the past few days has been encouraging, says Carroll Wilson, Chairman of the Halifax County Finance Committee for the Roose velt-Wallace ticket. "While most of the contributions are for one dollar, there is a sprinkling of five, ten and twenty five dollar givers", reported the chairman today. He listed the following as hav ing receipt books in the county and asked that all desiring to con tribute see any one of them: Roanoke Rapids: J. D. Lee, Dr. M. C. This building is being erected on lots west of Roanoke Avenue near Roanoke Junction. It is one of the many new buildings under construction in the city at the present time. Jax Play At Greenville Coach Craniord Hoyle will take his Yellow Jackets to Greenville tomorrow to meet the "Greenies" in their camp. Tomorrow's opponents will be plenty tough for the Jax, it is ex pected here. Last year, with a much stronger team, the locals had :ough sledding to get by the Greenville team. \ However, the Jax played two fair periods last Friday to defeat Lit tleton handily without the services of Byrd, one of the leading backs this year. Byrd was benched before the Littleton game with a fractured collar bone. Final Rites For Thompson Child Funeral services for Vashtire rhompson, 10 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Thompson, were held at the grave in North ampton County Tuesday after noon at 3 o'clock. Rev. C. T. Rog ers officiated. The child died in the Roanoke Rapids hospital Monday afternoon after an illness of about two weeks. Surviving are the parents and two small brothers.
